OK, you don't have to like them, and I know some of you don't....but some do, so let's not be too nasty, 'K? ;)
Did you know that NKOTB was formed in 1984 by Mary Alford and Maurice Starr (who also discovered New Edition)?
Maurice Starr decided to form an all white singing/dancing group to try to get 'sweet revenge' on New Edition after their parting of ways.
Over 500 boys auditioned to be a part of the group.
Mark Wahlberg (New Kid Donnie's brother) was a member of NKOTB for a time, but quit shortly after joining due to lack of interest in the project.
Joe Starr took the place of Jamie Kelley, who had started drinking heavily and missing practices, thereby getting booted from the group.
OK, who knows something? Don't be shy! ;)

If you play "Step By Step" backwards, you can hear the subliminal message of Donnie telling you to set a hotel room on fire.
OK, I made that one up.
April 24, 1989 was officially declared "New Kids On The Block Day" by Dukakis in their home state only, but that didn't stop people elsewhere from, um, 'observing' that day a year later in 1990 when many more people knew who they were. The reason why I remember this is because it happened to fall on my birthday and my friends found this rather amusing. *picture Nelson pointing at me and going "ha-ha!"*

I was one of those that never liked this group, but here is what I know:
In June of 1994, they went their separate ways to pursue solo careers.
They also recorded a Christmas album in 1989 that went double platinum.

From interviews I have seen of Maurice, he actually was forming them to tour with New Edition NOT to get back at them.
