Did you know that The Cure has released 20 albums to date?

The band got together in 1976 when Robert Smith (vocals), at 17 years of age, formed The Easy Cure with schoolmates Michael Dempsey (bass), Lol Tolhurst (drums) and local guitar hero Porl Thompson. (Local being Sussex, England.)

The band's line-up has changed several times, with Robert Smith being the only constant member.

Smith claims that Bloodflowers, their latest original album, is to be the last Cure album, and that he will no longer tour America. Bloodflowers was released in February of 2000, and there have been 2 greatest hits albums released since that time.

What do you know about The Cure? :)

The Cure's debut single in 1978 was the controversially titled and misunderstood "Killing An Arab".

Smith doesn't seem to like the band being called "mope rock", saying he doesn't mope. He married his sweetheart from age 14, Mary Poole, in August 1988.

In 1983, Robert Smith briefly joined Siouxsie & the Banshees, recording the Hyaena album with the group and appearing as the band's guitarist on the album's accompanying tour.

Roger O'Donnel (which was the Cure's keyboardist during the album Disintegration) was once a member of the Psychedelic Furs.

Hummm.. 'A Forest' never made it over the ocean? It's one o'my favourites :( Well, the reason could be that trees grow on land ;)

A trivia-cure-question: how many times does Robert sing "and again" in 'A Forest'?

With some friends I attended one of their dutch Circus tour (1980)shows, great atmosphere. After the show we went for a drink, and gues who were sitting in very same bar? The Cure!

I was sitting next to Simon Gallup (the bassplayer) and asked why he used a delay unit for his bass. He was happily surprised that I (being a musician) could ask 'critical' questions. Simon bought me a few whiskeys (he didn't want me to pay) and we had a very nice discussion.

So if I ever happen to meet you again Simon, it's my time to buy you a few drinks... cheerio!

I love The Cure!! Is it true that he wrote "love song" for his wife?
