Since I'm new here, I thought I'd see how my lyric excerpts stack up. Good luck to all!
1. "There must be a thousand other guys, must be some other way to look good in your eyes"
2. "Now it's all in the distance, still you keep resisting, I love you like never before"
3. "But I ain't committed no crime, so take what you can find"
4. "But I think that you should warn me if you start heading for a fall"
5. "When the moment of truth arrives, hey, you can run but you can't hide"
6. "They watched us all, while only making sure that we don't trip and fall"
7. "And though you chose to walk a separate road, I still believe in you"
8. "Somebody write me a letter, I need to know that I'm still alive"
9. "He must have tapped my telephone line"
10. "You're going to eat a bowl of chow mein"
These are all taken from charting singles; two of them hit top 15. Some you will have forgotten about(perhaps deliberately!). I smell a 10 out of 10 if the previous quizzes are any indication! But clues are ready to go if necessary...

Roemello: Very good! 4 down, 6 to go! Give me a shout if you need help on the others. I had gotten a clip recently of Terri lipsynching "Somebody's Knockin'" on Solid Gold, so I thought I'd include that. I was so sure that everyone forgot about her! Maybe next time I'll include one from "Do The Donkey Kong(just kidding!)."

I can honestly say I don't recognize any of these off the top of my head! Nice job with the quiz!
Clues, please : )

Here are some clues for the remaining 6:
4. This is from a Canadian progressive rock group's only top 40 hit, late '82/early '83 on Portrait Records. The group is still together and does well in Europe(like most active 80s bands do these days).
5. Yet another classic Canadian rock act. This was their biggest hit; they did have one other top 40 hit called "Hold On." The guitarist is highly acclaimed and for the longest time wrote a column for Guitar Player magazine.
6. This is their best-known song, although it wasn't a top 40 hit. This trio is well-known in the Long Island area and in New Orleans. The lead singer has a tendency to sound a lot like Robert Plant and has the same name as the black bass player in Journey's 1986 "Raised On Radio" tour.
7. This is from a California band's only top 40 hit. They were labelmates with Night Ranger(MCA/Camel). The most recognizable member of the band is the keyboardist; he had a late 70s band with a heavenly name and had another band in the late 80s who remade a classic Traffic tune.
8. One of my favorite bands of all time. A British political band that some critics labeled "U 1 1/2." This is also the title track of their best-selling album from late 1985 on IRS Records. And the drummer was named "Twist!"
10. And finally, a well-established new wave act that had been churning out hits since the 70s. This wasn't their biggest hit; they would enjoy greater success a year later by teaming with an ex Go-Go. If this doesn't help, think of two brothers!
Good Luck To All! I Want My Old MTV!

No. 4 is Saga. On the Loose is the track I think.
Ooohh..Bogie's right.
I love that song!
'and when the problems start,
and the tension rolls, we'll be keeping it to ourselves.
instead of reaching for conclusions,
we'll be reaching for something else.
No one can stop us now,
tonight we're on the loose..'
I love that video.
(*ah,, memories...*)
lol
#8 Strength by the Alarm.
One of the greatest "socially aware" bands of the 80s. Even when they were preachy their stuff was still way cool!
#5 Somebody's Out There - Triumph. For a band that had some AWESOME songs over the years this was not one of their best.
#6 Who's Behind The Door - Zebra
They had a very Triumph sounding song, "Tell Me What You Want".
