Eddie Van Halen was looking for the perfect guitar (as far as the Roth-era VH sound is concerned). He decided that guitar was the one he used extensively on The Diver Down Tour. Unfortunately, he had sold it a long time ago. After much effort (and money, I'm sure) he found it and has purchased it. The reason: he wants the 'classic' VH sound when they go on tour with David Lee Roth this summer!
Is Doc McGhee going to manage this tour? He said so in an impromptu interview in Australia following the Kiss show there!

I'd love to see them re-unite and tour again. Don't expect Dave would be as energetic as he was in the 80's, but it would still be one heck of a show.

I think Daves energy went with his hair.Just a theory

It's been falling out since 1987.

Finally some news from the band themselves. Or is it news at all. I have to paraphrase. From vanhalen.com, the band say they are indeed working on a new album. They also say they know all about the rumors, if you want the real news get it from their website. And it is signed Eddie, Alex and Michael.
On DLR's site he posted an audio message that stated he and Van Halen worked together in the studio several months ago and came up with some amazing songs. But, he hasn't had any contact with them since. He sounds like he's ready to go when they are.
After 18 months of rumors and closed lips from the band, it seems strange that these messages are posted on their separate sites very close together. David's message is more specific while VH's almost denies the rumors (but not quite). I wonder if this is a marketing game.

Wow.. that is strange.. no doubt some element of marketing strategy is involved...

I didn't even buy the last album with Cherone.... I can't wait for this one.. although I thought that David's voice on the two tracks he did for the greatest hits album left much to be desired....
Hopefully, he has been working on that!

Never got into Van Halen? Come my child and we will now listen to the gospel according to Dave.

I agree Dave is VH and Sammy is better as a solo artist IMO.

Okay.. I liked Dave... don't get me worng... but I liked Sammy better... he gave the band a more "grown-up" sound... no one sounds like Sammy, and I love his voice.,.. they produced more albums and hits with Sammy than with Dave... so if that tells you anything...

I liked how Dave was so crazy back then... but he couldn't pull that off today... and his voice sucked the last time we heard him.. like I said.. I sure hope he has been working on it...

It will be a short lived reunion... because Dave is an asshole and the rest of the band can't stand him.. they are only reuniting because they will get dropped from their label if they don't.

But don't get me wrong.. I AM looking forward to the reunion..
