As some of you have already noticed Christmas is just around the corner. You can tell by the size of the lines at every store.

Who has there Christmas shopping done?

And one more question!!!!

Hi Milani :)

well I said I was going to get all my shopping done early this year and I had learnt my lesson from leaving it all till the very last minute many times before...........well you can chalk up another one! I've left it to the last minute AGAIN :goofy: so it's into the mad hoards of bargain hungry shoppers again this year I'm afraid.

For Christmas I would like to wish for Peace though It's sure not going to happen, so all I want is to go away on holidays with my family and be happy with what I have.

I haven't even began to shop! (Long story)

Really I will be happy with some clothes for Christmas. I did get an early Christmas present from my Dad this week. I had bought a washer a few weeks back from my cousin, but I didn't have a dryer. This week my Dad surprised me while I was at work and went to Home Depot with my boyfriend to go buy me a dryer. It was already set up when I got home. :D

Oh come come now, Malani and Cult don't sound so down. I LOVE the holidays, and I don't want it to end. I wish everyone was happy on Christmas, but I know that isn't possible.

I just started shopping online tonight. I like ordering online, because I don't have to deal with shipping. I have to pay for it, but it would be the same cost if I did it myself. Good old Amazon.com. :
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.....oops sorry. :p Seriously, I want for Christmas is The Simpsons version of Clue. Mr. Smithers is Mrs White. :p

Dang...I'm halfway done wrapping and only have four gifts left to buy. Slow pokes. :p  I actually start in August or September so I can take advantage of sales and layaway plans. That way I don't have to have a big chunk of change all at once.

My husband and I just spent about 4 1/2 hours making nut rolls, though. For anyone who bakes, try using pecans instead of walnuts for your rolls, or mix them. The pecan has such a better flavor! Now to make the chocolate chip pecan and (maybe) sugar cookies....

Oh Val, you're making hungry. I used to bake cookies and make them into gift baskets for people, but I don't have time now.
I just send out gift baskets of cookies instead, that's what I did last year. My favorite site I ordered from last year was from, Hometown Favorites. I sent my sister and brother-in-law a 70s Decade box. It's a box full of candies that came out in the 70s. This year they have an 80s Decade box.
Here are the items that are in the box if people are interested. The URL is http://www.hometownfavorites.com .

I have yet to begin my shopping this year. As for what I want for Christmas... I want a girlfriend... any takers?

ShereKahn

I want:

Peace, Love and Happiness For Everyone
A 1957 Les Paul Gold Top
Molly Ringwalds Phone Number
A chance to move out of this armpit in the Universe called Fort Myers
Anything stainless steel shiny or glass shiny
Tiger stuff, posters, prints, etc.
Alien (1979) Movie Memorabilia
Guitar Strings .11's Diaddario
A girlfriend/lover/stable relationship/wife/whatever
Subscriptions to National Geographic, Discover, Science, etc.
A 50 scrillion pound PLAIN Hershey Bar
A 1967 Marshall Slant Face cabinet to complete my '67 half stack
Molly Ringwald Stuff (again)
Someone to adopt the three kittens I rescued.
Someone to adopt the 8 foot Eastern Diamonback I have penned in a cage WAITING for someone from Florida Wildlife Mangement. I will be waiting till the snake grows gray whiskers apparently.
A new snake hook.

Um, that about covers it. For the curious, I DO NOT kill any living creature, even those hideous jumping spiders we have around here. If FWM will not come get the snake, I will take him to the Everglades and release him. I am a total animal lover. However, I am not a Vegan. Eat or be Eaten.

I won't be doing any Christmas shopping this year. Didn't do any last year either, so I don't have to worry about trying to outdo myself. :p

I start my shopping this weekend, Walmart and Canadian Tire are my ground zero's

There's nothing I really need this year (except for big stuff like a big screen plasma tv) and no one is getting me that. I'll be more than happy with some dress clothes for work.... I wouldn't mind getting the RPG Civilization 3 .

Does anyone know what to buy a 6 year old girl, boys are easy just load him up with fake guns and sports toys, but girls are difficult

I'm about 3/4 done with my shopping. Lucky for me, my sister-in-law & her husband are visiting next weekend so I don't have to ship anything to the in-laws this year. ("How much room you got in your trunk, sis?" )

I haven't thought too much about what I would like for Christmas. The #1 marker of being a "grown-up" (where I am concerned, I always put it in quotes) is that I'm focused on what my friends & family would enjoy, rather than myself. I love the holidays, even when they make me a little loopy. :goofy: We are on a strict budget this year, like a lot of people, and that's made it challenging. Ah well, to unwind in the car, I play my Dr. Demento holiday album :D

I would like a new jewelry box, my old one is falling apart, if Santa is listening, hehe.

One question about Christmas shopping.
I know you have to get your family something. But do you get all of your friends presents? Or do you give gifts to only special friends? oopss sorry.. that is two questions

I have met some wonderful friends here.. they are all talking about what to get eachother for Christmas at lunch today. That got me thinking.. I have only known these people for about a month.. should I really buy them something?

What do you guys do?

helloman

me? No presents! (not really, there will be always something)
or is it a bigger surprise if you do not get a present?:D

I keep thinking I'm all done shopping, but my husband hasn't really told me what he wants yet, so I'm probably not. He likes to wait until the last minute. The kids and my family are all taken care of 'tho.

As far as buying for friends, I don't personally. Sometimes I'll take cookies or this really cute jar of homemade brownie mix to a friend, but I've got enough stress buying for family. I don't usually buy for friends anymore.

You get your family presents, you get your closest friend(s) a gift, you get everyone else an *individual* card. Not a card that is a picture of you and say, your cat that you had turned into a photo greeting card at Wal-Mart. That is like Christmas Spam. Cards aren't that much and personalized ones to each person you consider a friend is a nice thing.

What do I do? Interesting question and actually made me stop and think. I get up in the morning and stumble about the house a bit, feed my cats and my dogs, check the turtles and lizard, shower shave, go to work. At work I oversee the Network Operations for a telecommunications call center. Most of that day however is spent surfing the web, attempting to look like I am doing something when there is really nothing to do, and making various rude jokes with co-workers. After a bit of that and some flirtation with various females, it is home, food, e-mail, television, bed.

Occasionally I will foray into the field to photograph something and then tweak it in Photoshop, or go sit by the lake and reflect. But as for the moment, I think I am too busy being boring to actually get on with it and be a lot of fun. I am in a rut, a big one. The oddest thing is, I am not even bitter about it.

That was great advice I went and bought some cards tonight. Now I am personalizing each one for the people at work. I am adding my own special nutty humor and hope they like them.

Christmas is the only time i give out cards.. isn't that silly

Like Ty.. I bought very minimal this year! Joe and I didn't buy for each other this year either.. I needed new maternity clothes and he wanted a couple PS2 games.. so we just bought those for ourselves... Bought little things for our parents but thats it!
Both our older brothers and sisters live far away and haven't even bothered to call or plan to be with us this year for the holidays, so we just sent them cards.. and that's it!

I don't buy for friends either but I do think that the cookies idea is nice, especially for co-workers... We'll be gone over Christmas vacation so I won't be baking anything at home this year.

I wish I could spend Christmas with all of you guys !!!! ;)
Merry Christmas!
