Tune in and make some requests!

Join us in the CHAT ROOM!! Come join us in the chat room for a virtual party!

For the easiest and most hassle-free method of listening in, go to http://www.live365.com/stations/133667 However, you do NOT need to go here and Log-In before you can listen. If you choose to, it SHOULD give you the option to launch it in the player of your choice. If you choose a third party player, you can then leave the Live365 site.

You can also go to http://www.downmainelimited.com/retrorock and click on the Listen link. Not only will the Live365 site will open in an iFrame (if you aren't using IE, you can log-in from there. The iFrame will also not open if you are using a version of Netscape less than 6), but you can continue to click on the different links there to listen in, and ALL of them should be working again.

I checked out your station via WINAMP, and I get a lot of buffering on it. Is there a way to fix that

What kind of connection are you listening with? The stream SHOULD be good to go with 56K and up, but 56K listeners may get more frequent buffering. Unfortunately, that's the trade off for trying to keep the quality as good as I can while still keeping it as low of a bitrate as possible for the modem users.

Also, when did this happen? My ISP has had some real issues today that kicked the station off line several times today for very short periods. That may also have been the cause.

There have been a ton of changes to Renegade Retro since my last post. Where to start?

First, the stream has been drastically upgraded. It's still a 32k stream, for 56K modem users to be able to tune in, but I am now broadcasting in mp3PRO stereo. Unfortunately, you need a player capable of supporting MP3 pro to hear this change, but for those that do use it, you will notice immediately how clean and fresh the audio sounds. That DOESN'T mean if you don't have a player that supports mp3PRO that you can't listen. You still can, it will just sound like the old mono stream as before.

If you use JetAudio or Winamp, then simply download THIS (http://www.retroradionetwork.com/music/mp3PROAudioDecoder.exe) plug-in. Instructions for installation can be found HERE. (http://www.retroradionetwork.com/retrocommunity/index.php?board=73;action=display;threadid=3230)

We are also located on our own webhost now, located at http://www.retroradionetwork.com/retro

The playlist pages have been dramtically updated, now featuring more than 4300 songs, with more being added regularly. You can browse through the playlist, and if you see a song you want to hear, click REQUEST. The song will play shortly after that. And, you can dedicate the song to someone, right from the request page! If you make a dedication, that dedication will show up on the What's Playing (http://www.retroradionetwork.com/retro/SAM/index.php) page for all the world to see while the song plays.

Also on this page, you will see some songs featuring the cover of the album the song is from. You can click this album cover and be taken to Amazon to purchase it if you'd like. Finally, you'll see a little icon that looks like this http://www.retroradionetwork.com/retro/SAM/images/info.gif on the same line as each song. Clicking on this icon will give you some info about the song, including the lyrics if it's one I've gotten to (4300 songs takes a little time to work through...).

You can tune in to the stream HERE (http://www.retroradionetwork.com/retro/SAM/listen1.pls) if you have Winamp. Alternatively, you can log-in at Live365 (http://www.live365.com) and tune in from there.

You can join us in chat, on our forums, or visit our partner station, City of Glass Radio for the best in 80's and 90's alternative tracks by simply visiting us at http://www.retroradionetwork.com

We look forward to seeing you there, and join us Friday night for the live request show!
