I heard this song called "Take It Off" by the all female group The Donnas and I like this song. Anyone else heard it? I'm curious if anyone owns the CD and what they think of it. I might actually buy this. You know this is surprising coming from me since I am pretty much anti - anything new.

They say that The Donnas are sort of in the vein of The Ramones and The Runaways, and I've heard good things about them, too.

They're one of the few modern musical talents I stomach...

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

No, I've never heard of The Donnas, nor "Take It Off."

You're not the only one, Stacy! I love the song 'Take It Off'...I think the Donnas are a very cool band. They definitely have an 80's sound, almost a mix of the Go-Gos and hair-metal. :) :thumb:

I've seen pictures of them wearing shirts of '80s metal bands - apparently without irony! They've also covered Priest's "Living After Midnight" and KISS' "Strutter" so I would count them as an ally in the fight for old-school rock.

Whoa, they're PUNK :) Well... more pop-punk now with their major label release. I'm friends with they and they're totally cool.

Check out their Indie albums on Lookout Records, especially their last album Donnas turn 21 :thumb:

The Donnas are alright...but they're on MTV and I only watch MTV when I'm VERY bored...and I never listen to the radio much. I keep my distance from popular things.

Though I like Kelley Obourne.

Its Kelly shortie :p

They're on MTV cause this CD is a major label release... I wasn't happy when they left Lookout Records, the people at LOR are good people

I like the Donnas too! They just played here at a small club about 3 weeks ago!
I forgot all about it! It was on a Monday night. And it was only $7!
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Here's their website:

They remind me of The Runaways or L7

I saw them in the extra features of the Detroit Rock City DVD - doing a song, I think was called 'Strutter' or something. They have an old classic rock sound which seems to be making a comeback with Sweden's 'The Strokes' and Australia's 'The Vines'
It sounds pretty cool and crunchy. One thing I did notice they all kind of look like Courtney Love clones with ripped clothes, band-aids and cuts and bruises etc

I dig the "All Dressed Up" section in the Photo Gallery where they're decked out as Motley Crue!

Bumpity-bump....

Well I ordered it last week.... it's pretty good although kinda short. Mine didn't come with the bonus DVD, I guess they mean it sometimes when an edition is "strictly limited"! :dammit: :dammit: :dammit:

Anyone see them on SNL last week? The vocals sounded kinda weak but the rest was solid, a nice break from the usual crappy musical guests. And they had a special camera angle for the COWBELL!

I wouldn't say you're quite the only one, no. :D (But I'm apparently weird, I don't like the Britneys and Christinas at all)

I heard this song. Not to bad but too soon to tell if they have staying power.

Staying power in the mainstream... I doubt it, mainstream doesn't like girls that can actually play.

But if they go back to their underground punk; where they have been since they started at what 15 err 16? They'll be okay
