Anybody remember this? I was 6 but I never forgot the day this happened. The images of all the slain Egyptian military leaders were played over and over on the news. This and the attempted murder of Reagan stand out so vividly in my mind.

Yep, although I don't recall the incident as I was also 9 I have since read about what happened, and it was shocking.

Wasn't he slain in front of a parade or something like that in 1981?

I remember when he was assinated, think it was in a parade like Chopper said, or some ceremony getting off a plane, but it's not something that stands out in my mind like what I was doing when i heard about the WTC on 9-1-1

What happened was a truck load of terrorists drove by and threw grenades at the dignitaries. It was a miracle Mubarak wasn't killed as well, since he was right next to Sadat.

I remember i very well too. Saw it on the news nine years old - remember a person had his lower arm shot off and blood came pouring out :( That stuck!

:( I was 10 when it happened. I remember how shocking it was, and them showing his funeral on TV. All of the channels were covering it, and we got no other programming until that evening.

October 6, 1981 - Me and a couple of buddies were serving 1 day suspensions for getting caught drinking beer at the homecoming parade the previous week. We were at Donnie's house (one of the fellow suspendees) and I have no clue what we were watching but the news report came on showing the carnage. It was horrible that he was assassinated but the fact that we got to see it because we were suspended for drinking beer was pretty neat for a 16 year old. Geez, I just realized that I was 16 years old for half of my senior year in High School.
