View Full Version : Didja Know? - Roxette
Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson teamed up in 1985.
Their song 'It Must Have Been Love" was included on the soundtrack for Pretty Woman.
Their first U.S. hit was "The Look", which became a hit before their album 'Look Sharp' was officially released worldwide.
They're married...but not to each other. :)
What can you find out?
Cartoon_Chris 11-12-02, 09:57 PM Sweden gave them their own stamp in 1991.
80sTrivia 11-13-02, 06:01 AM Lead singer Marie Frederiksson fell recently at her home in Sweden. She was taken to a hospital suffering from a concussion. A medical exam showed that she is suffering from a brain tumor, for which she is currently being treated. Best wishes to her and I hope that she makes a very speedy and complete recovery!
Iluvthe80s 11-13-02, 06:15 AM They released an album in 1986 that didn't display much of their talents, but the infectious follow-up, 1988's Look Sharp!, brought them to the top of the charts in America and England; 1991's Joyride was almost equally successful.
djdaffy1227 11-13-02, 12:38 PM They released a greatest hits collection called "Don't bore us, get to the chorus"
sketcher 11-14-02, 09:49 AM They released another greatest hits with songs sung in Spanish.
When they first formed, critics didn't know how well they'd do since the 2 were vastly different; Per Gessel was in his own rock band and Marie was a singer of very different music (soft rock I think).

Oh man, I could have went the rest of my life without knowing that. That stinks on ice. I hope that she recovers fully and completely and that she goes on to lead a charmed life. Damn I hate hearing bummer news.
SeaBass 12-30-02, 11:18 AM roxette got a bad rap at the time. they were producing high quality pop singles, but they were somewhat cheesy, so they never got the respect they deserved. anyway, i own the greatest hits CD and "Crash Boom Bang". Favorite tracks include "joyride", "fading like a flower", "how do you do!", "sleeping in your car" and "fireworks". towards the end, they were sounding very much like late period Eurythmics.
Per Gessle has his owne before roxett groupe "Gyllene tider" means something like good old times....they sings in swedish
the groupe had reunion tour in 2004... sold over 500000 tickets in sweden...

This is in my CD player constantly. What a great set of songs, always liked Roxette, still do!
whistledog 12-15-04, 09:12 PM Their 2001 song "Wish I Could Fly" was a success in Canada. I remember seeing the video for it quite a bit on MuchMusic (That's Canada's version of MTV)
