View Full Version : A long awaited update
It's been awhile since I have posted any type of info. So I'll get right to it.
Angus & Malcolm Young of AC/DC will chat live at www.msn.com (http://www.msn.com) on Monday, March 19 at 8pm EST. Their current tour is their fastest selling tour to date.
The original Black Sabbath lineup are currently kicking around ideas for songs for a new studio cd. They plan to record in the Fall. This will be the first time the original member have recorded a studio album since 1978's Never Say Die.
Judas Priest have announced their Summer Tour schedule. They will be touring the annual European Festival circuit. Savatage will be the openers. They are still working on a tour package of America, South America and a second leg of Europe. Their new cd is in the final mixing stages. According to Japanese sources their new cd will be released in Japan on April 21st.
Bon Jovi is putting the final touches on the band's first live cd ever. It is due out on May 22nd. the track listing includes 'It's My Life', 'Runaway', 'Bad Medicine', 'Wanted Dead or Alive', 'Livin On A Prayer', and 'One Wild Night', among others.
Watch for a Best of Winger cd soon. It will be released in conjuction with the Winger Reunion.
Guns n Roses have confirmed their Summer tour dates. They also covering the European Festival circuit.
Rumor: Van Halen have completed 11 new songs with David Lee Roth singing. Apparently, Dave and Eddie are not in the studio at the same time as they are recording their parts separately. They are even rumored to be using different producers for their separate parts.
Faster Pussycat have officially reformed.
Stephen Pearcy will be touring this Summer in support of his new solo cd, Social Intercourse. The tour will be billed as Ratt Featuring Stephen Pearcy. So, now we have 2 different bands using the Ratt moniker.
Poison's tour will be billed as The Glam Slam Metal Jam 2001. Confirmed to be touring with them is Warrant and Enuff Z'nuff. Also, Quiet Riot and Bulletboys are rumored to be in talks to be part of that tour as well.
Expect greatest hits packages from Tesla and Scorpions on June 5th.
Randy Jackson and Zebra are working on a new cd as are Nazareth.
Rumor: Mick Mars has left Motley Crue.
Their may be some merit to that rumor. Vince Neil may have left the band as well. He is announcing plans for a solo North American Tour from April to May.
Lastly, here's some insight on Jason Newsted's departure from Metallica. In the April issue of Playboy he is quoted as saying, "I can't play my sh*t, but James Hetfield can go play with other people. I have made some incredibly wonderful music with other musicians. But, I just can't release it." I knew there had to be more to his leaving the band than they were saying. On Metallica.com the band have an interview where they supposedly talk candidly about his departure, napster, and other topics. But, it is in a section for members only.
That's it for now. RIP..Randy Rhodes (today is the 19th anniversary of the plane crash that took his life at the age of 25.)

Hey Red...http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//mayhem.gif That Glam Glam Metal Jam 2001 sounds so awesome!!! What a great line up!! I do hope that Quiet Riot and Bulletboys play with them as well!!!
Lots of great news!! We sure missed you being around!!! You really know how to keep us updated!
I'm not at all suprised that Eddie and David are recording separatly...
And I kind of figured that Jason Newsted's reasons for leaving had to do with him not being able to put his own music out. Can't blame him for leaving and it was an ideal time for him to get out too!
Thanks for the updates and please keep me posted on the Glam Event.. I am very interested in it and would travel to attend if need be!!
Later Red!

I already have some updates on the above information.
Quiet Riot has officially joined The Glam Slam Jam. Their site is listing a lot of confirmed dates with more to be added. This is going to be a major tour! They even have three stops in Texas!!
Motley Crue's website is confirming and even listing the dates and venues of Vince's solo dates (there are only 4 listed). Nikki Sixx specifically denies rumors that anyone has quit the band. That statement is more than a week old though. The news I got about Mick leaving is more recent. Still, I would treat this as a rumor until it can be officially confirmed.

Sal Collaziano 3-20-01, 10:47 AM Wow! This Summer is picking up right where last Summer left off! But even better! This is very cool!
The Glam Slam Metal Jam 2001! Poison on tour with Warrant, Enuff Z'nuff and Quiet Riot so far! Bulletboys are a maybe! That's cool! I will definitely get to this one somehow! I hope they've got something coming to New York! They'd better!!

Priest AND Savatage? I can die now.....
I love Savatage.. I grew up right down the street from Jon and Criss Oliva and knew them pretty well (I was only 10 but I liked to hang out and watch them practice, just before "Sirens" "Dungeons" and "Hall of the Mountain King" came out... so I got a sneak preview! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif Right tere in good ol' Tampa, Florida!
Awesome band! (although Criss is badly missed) http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//frown.gif

I also forgot to mention that Quiet Riot will be releasing a new cd in June called 'Guilty Pleasures'.
I also wasn't paying attention, this tour actually starts in Texas! Also the way they are wording it on Quiet Riot's and Poison's websites, it doesn't look like The Bulletboys or anyone else is joining the tour. Its still early yet, so that could change. And, Sal, they will be in New York about mid June.
I was pretty excited about Judas Priest and Savatage touring together too. They are both great bands. The first release of Priest's backcatalog boxset should be in stores now or real soon. They announced on their site the extras that were included for each release, some real gems for hardcore Priest fans like myself!! As far as these 2 bands touring together, they are confirmed for the European dates, after that, who knows? If not Savatage, then I'd like to see Hammerfall (that's just me though).
I'm also pretty excited about the original Black Sabbath recording a new cd. Its funny how when you think about how some bands have had a huge impact on you. Some of their albums just blew you away. Bands like Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, AC/DC, Metallica and Megadeath. I mean these guys are legends for some d*mn good reasons. But, before all of them there was Sabbath. They were the pioneers, the trailblazers, the trendsetters and very few can do it like they did. Some people are dismissing them as old geezers trying to relive the glory days. I say, let these 'founders' of metal show some of these rap metal and mall metal wannabes how its done. Yea, I'm pretty stoked about some of the things that are going to happen before the end of the year.
Think about it. A new black Sabbath cd with the original members for the first time in 13 years and a major tour thru Ozzfest. A new Judas Priest cd and major tour with Savatage. Iron Maiden and Halford will release live cd's from their tour together (which should feature some amazing duets). Both of them are also planning on working on new cd's, if we're lucky they will be out before year's end. A first ever live cd by Bon Jovi. The imminent reunion cd of the original Van Halen with a major tour possible. The Glam Slam Metal Jam 2001 featuring 4 awesome bands. And that's only the begining. There will be more. There are too many bands doing too many things for this to be it and I would settle for just this (I need a raise). This will be an exciting year for hard rock and metal fans!

Gunner Girl 3-21-01, 06:53 AM Hello all!
I cannot wait for the new stuff by Faster Pussycat! I do hope that it is true about them getting back together!!
Also, the Poison tour is gonna kick ass!! I definitey wanna catch that one.
Love to all,
Dawn
TOOAWNRIE 3-21-01, 07:56 AM Hey All...Is that the original Judas Priest you're referring to Red? {Nice to meet ya}. We just got a vid in of Halford and it was pretty "UCKIE". Never realized he was a "death metal vocalist". The best part was at the end when Bruce Dickinson and Geoff Tate joined in. Have to look and see when it was. Not really an Ozzy fan but seein' Iommi play would be awesome.Kinda cool that there's been an 80's awakening. My daughter thinks Bon Jovi is GOD and all of you parents know any common ground with a teenager is a blessing! We're planning on seein' "THE CRUSH TOUR" in May. sorry to say I got the update too late to catch Angus and Malcom, the older stuff with Bon was what hooked me into metal. Still rockin' after all these years! So keep up the great detective work! Rock on! Donna

Wow! the response to this has been great, usually people read my updates without responding.
First, Hi Gunnergirl, long time no see. Hi TOOAWNRIE (that describes my son to the letter), welcome back to the 80's. I am also very interested in that video you mentioned, wasn't aware one was available already. Please let me know where you got it.
Rob halford has NOT rejoined Judas Priest. There are a lot of rumors flying around, but Tim 'Ripper' Owens is still their singer. That is according to JP, Halford, and Owens (its pretty much official).
I could not find any other information about the Winger and Faster Pussycat reunions. I have been hearing about Winger more and more but Reb Beach is still in Dokken (unless that has very recently changed). That is the holdup there. Two members of FP were in a band called Bubble, I don't know if Bubble is still active or not. I got the news of an FP reunion from a news site. Both of these reunions could be rumors. I do know that Kip Winger is interested in getting his band back together though (he said so in a recent interview).
As far as the tour dates for The Glam Slam Metal Jam 2001, go to www.quietriotonline.com (http://www.quietriotonline.com) and click on schedules. Just remember that they are still negotiating that tour so even though the dates listed are confirmed they could still change in favor of a larger venue or larger city. Poison's website just don't list them yet. That, of course, will change. I can say that the tour starts in late May in San Antonio, Texas and goes, at least, until late August. They have not finalized plans for a European tour, but it is in the works.
