Did you know that U2 was formed in 1976 when Larry Mullen, Jr. (drummer) posted a note on his school bulletin board to advertise for band members? The band's first name was Feedback.

Bono's real name is Paul Hewson, he was nicknamed "Bono Vox," which was then shortened to just Bono.

Dave Evans's (a.k.a. 'The Edge') brother, Dick, was originally in the band, also on guitar, but later left the group and joined another Dublin band.

These tidbits are from a band biography written by Dotmusic, but not word for word... ;)

What d'ya know? I'm not a big U2 fan, so up until this moment, I thought Bono's name was Bono.

In 2001, Bono met with Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien to share his political agenda ("his" meaning Bono's). It was very clear in a press conference afterward that Chretien had no friggin' clue who U2 was.

U2 had one other chart-topping single, "Another Day," in early 1980 before Island Records offered the group a contract.

Didja know that U2 admitted to have been influenced heavily by some keyboard arrangements from A-ha's "The sun always shine on TV" on their single "A beautifull day".

In the 2001 dance hit New Years Dub by Musique, U2 don't actually appear. The song is just a sample from their 1983 hit 'New Years Day' and is credited as U2's 29th UK top 40 hit. The song was released as Musique vs. U2

In the 2004 dance hit Take Me to the Clouds Above by LMC, U2 don't actually appear. The song is just a sample from their 1987 hit 'With or Without You' and is credited as U2's 33rd UK top 40 hit. The song was released as LMC vs. U2
