Okay i visited a site that was retold what they heard from someone who apparently works as a script editor and saw the Goonies script folders (there were two) while filing another one away.
The first one was written in like '92, It was called "Goonies: The Next Generation". He said it was terrible and written like a Home Alone type movie http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//yucky.gif, it had a stamp of rejection on it thank god. The second one he said was written by the same people that write the scripts for Jack of All Trades, which is a hilarious show and those kind of writers imho are perfect to write a Goonies movie!
In the script, the lead kid from the first one (im sorry, im not obsessed enough with the movie to remember all their names, though i love it!) is now working as a historian, and he finds an old map (like in the first movie) to a treasure while in museum he works at. He decides to form his old friends together again to look for it. Chuck has become the manager of a Pizza Place, the asian gadget kid is a scientist of some sort, and i think Mouth is a carsalesman or something but dont take my word on it i dont really remember.
The guy who said this script really exists, said that it was stamped on the folder as approved! He got to skim a great deal of it and assures that its a really great read.
I hope this is true- so many movies today suck, so few leave me with any sort of pleasure. In fact i will probably wait until it goes to video before seeing it to tell you the truth.
