What causes a frequently visited (weekly) URL in my favorites list to 'suddenly' become unaccessable - eg comes with that 'Page Cannot Be Displayed' white screen really quickly. Even when I hit refresh!?!? it still refuses!
Last time this happened (after a few months of visiting the site on a weekly basis) I found away around the problem - I physically typed the URL in by hand instead of clicking on it in my favorites list and it worked!? work that out!??!
This time that remedy isn't working - I thought maybe the server's is actually down this time, but it works ok on a different computer.
Is my computer telling me that it's sick of visiting the same site every week?

Hope someone can explain why this phenomunum is occuring

Thanks

Have you tried to ping the site to see if it is available? Just open a command propmt (click on the "Start" button, go to "Run" and then type "command") and ping the server. For example, "ping www.yahoo.com" will yield:

Pinging www.yahoo.akadns.net [66.218.71.80] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 66.218.71.80: bytes=32 time=50ms TTL=53
Reply from 66.218.71.80: bytes=32 time=53ms TTL=53
Reply from 66.218.71.80: bytes=32 time=50ms TTL=53
Reply from 66.218.71.80: bytes=32 time=52ms TTL=53

Ping statistics for 66.218.71.80:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 50ms, Maximum = 53ms, Average = 51ms

If it comes up saying that there is "0% loss" then the issue is on your end. Let me know.

Hi Shakey, just tried to ping the site then and it came back 'unknown host' - see if you can access this:

http://www.eighties-mp3.co.uk/download.htm

(I typed: ping www.eighties-mp3.co.uk

is that right?

Nope. I cannot access or ping the site. Maybe they just have it down for maintenance or something. Give it a couple of days and try it again. Sorry, man.

Retro,

by checking the site with NeoTrace, I got the error message "Host or domain name could not be resolved" - seems that this site is not only temporarily down but had to be removed from the server.
