Do any of you participate in fund raisers or volunteer work for Breast Cancer awarness or research? I am looking for an organization to work with on a project for our store. It's also a matter close to my heart for many reasons. I find it hard sometimes to get involved with certain organizations because I like to see and know where the money goes. I also like to see a specific person or need and see it filled. It's tuff to find charity work like that. It always just goes into some big fund and you never know the outcome. Which is fine too... I just like working on a more close and personal basis. Any thoughts on organizations? I even asked a few Dr's but they were surprisingly clueless. Oh, and here's some info if you want it!;)
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The Board of Sponsors of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is dedicated to increasing awareness of breast cancer issues, especially the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
This message is communicated through a nationwide educational campaign to audiences including women in all age and ethnic groups, the general public, state and federal governments, women's health care professionals, and employers.
During 2002 an estimated 203,500 new cases of breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States. NBCAM encourages all women to recognize the importance of early breast cancer detection by participating in National Mammography Day on October 18, 2002.
