View Full Version : had your first tooth pulled?
ImSoooSure 12-21-01, 05:16 AM I was at home and my mom said it was time for that tooth to go. I took off running out the door, down our deck stairs and thru the yard crying. My brother always told me having a tooth pulled hurt really, really bad! After she calmed me down I went in the restroom and pulled it. Of course pulling it it was no big deal. My brother had a good laugh though. :D
My teeth pretty much all fell out on their own. But when I was about 12, my mom started freaking out because I had a loose molar that she was sure was a permanent tooth. She called the dentist in a panic and rushed me over there. The dentist looked in my mouth and said "That's a baby tooth; she's supposed to lose it! Here, let me help." and he flicked it out. Then he said "And just so there are no more emergency dental visits for this..." and proceeded to flick out my last three baby molars, which weren't even loose yet. He turned to my mom and said "There. Now if Allison ever has a loose molar, you can panic."
LOL abc, that's funny. I actually lost two teeth at one time. I got playdough for Christmas when I was 3 or 4 ( I can't remember which, but I'm leaning towards 4). My little hands were too small to get the cans open. So, I tried to open with my teeth. Pop! Both bottom front teeth hit the floor! They weren't even loose. Talk about blood, and my mom totally freaked. My permanent teeth didn't come in for about a year. LOL
Come to think of it, I don't think I had a full set of teeth in my mouth at one time until I was 12 years old. I guess that's why everyone called me Snaggletooth.
Roemello 12-21-01, 08:48 PM I've thankfully never had a tooth pulled...my mouth cringes at the mere mention...  lol. I worked mine out myself..kinda slowly twisted 'em out gradually as they became looser :)
Ted Nugent 12-21-01, 10:17 PM I never had mine pulled. Sounds painful. LOL I wingled mine out myself, all before the age of 6. :D
I think I had my first tooth pulled in the early '80s.
I've had a FEW teeth pulled, actually.
pamela* 12-25-01, 08:48 PM No idea how old I was.. but I remember it very well. My mother's boyfriend at the time had dark black hair, light blue eyes.. and looked like Satan ;) Ok, so he just looked like Charles Manson. He pulled it by tying a string to it, and tying the other end to a doorknob.. and opening the door real fast. I didn't feel a thing. I kept cringing and waiting for it and then he was like "oh, I'm done" Regardless of who he looked like.. we really liked him.
My mother always told me if i pulled out my baby teeth my permanent teeth would come in crooked? That was a lie because i have perfect teeth.
My first tooth was pulled by my father. He tied a string on it and then put the end of the string on a door knob and shut the door. Well the first attempt failed. I was just yelling and screaming with blood pouring out of my mouth. He did it again. Nothing. I finally yanked on the string myself. OUCH!!

Caligula 1-02-02, 06:58 PM I never had a permanent/adult tooth pulled out until about 5 years ago, one of my wisdom teeth was pulled
I was in Japan when my first tooth was pulled. The TRAINEEE, it seems (it was a military base), hadn't had that much experience. Pulled my tooth and dropped it, luckily my tongue caught it, all he could say was, "Great catch, Dude!", like it was some form of entertainment for him.
Don't remember the date, but I do remember the method. The tooth had been loose for days and the folks just couldn't convince me to go to the dentist. So... One day Dad handed me an apple to eat. Next thing I knew the tooth was sticking in the apple and I was running around the house screaming. :D
My first tooth..ugh..such a painful memory..I was about 11 and it was the first time I'd ever been to a dentist. My mother took me and my sister, we're sitting in the lot and she chooses THEN to tell us that our dentist is also a coronor...I grabbed on to the back of the seat and refused to move!! It took her about 20 minutes to get me in there. After that it wasn't so bad, except the scraping noises when he pulled it...ugh.
That 80z Girl 2-24-02, 02:21 AM Well, I've been putting off getting my wisdom teeth pulled for many years. The Xrays I had taken a couple of years ago showed that one of the bottom ones is growing in sideways. So, when I finally get the guts to have it done, I'll let you know.
I actually got a tooth pulled a couple of months ago. Man, I will think twice before I do that again. I was sick for three days. So to anyone who tells you it doesn't hurt, they are lying!!!!

i'm VERY experienced at getting teeth pulled (11 baby teeth)
i should get one of my wisdom teeth pulled but have been putting it off :tsk:
Christine 3-01-02, 11:49 AM I was 11, and my adult teeth were coming in wrong, so I got 4 teeth pulled at once. (They weren't loose at all, and when they were pulled, the roots of the teeth, which are usually non-exsistent when they fall out naturally, were really long.) Thanks for reminding me! One of the most painful memories of my life. I was on so much painkillers. :(

OUCHIES, I can't imagine an 11 y/o going through that.
Jughead Jones 3-01-02, 12:37 PM Well, I remembe mine well...I had my two front teeth pulled out by my dentist when I was almost 7 years old...for some strange reason, my baby teeth refused to fall out, so my dentist had to yank them out to get the others to loosen up...as a result, I was almost FIFTEEN when my last baby tooth fell out...yeah, I know, I'm weird.

Not so weird...I was the same age (14) when my last baby tooth fell out. They told me my teeth structure was two years behind what it should be. (For example, if I was 10, my teeth were like an 8 yr olds). Fortunately, my braces that I had for 4 years are off and my teeth look good!! I just had gum surgery yesterday, so I took the day off school and I'm recuperating at home right now.

Sorry! I emptied it.
*Snowflake* 3-12-02, 05:07 PM I was five and I was at home. My older sister Teresa (Who was in her 20s at the time) pulled my tooth out for me. She tied a piece of string around it and pulled it out. (Gently, of course.)
I was about 5 years old, and I kept playing with my tooth, it was barely hanging on. My dad said, "Let me see that." and he just reached into my mouth and pulled it out!
I was more in shock than in pain I think!
CinderGirl 3-16-02, 03:49 AM I had my first tooth pulled during a weekend, and I remember going to the bathroom constantly to see how loose it was, and to see if it was ready to come out. I was so nervous about pulling that sucker out, but anxious at the same time.
I finally got tired of playing with it with my tongue, so I went into the bathroom, pulled it out, showed it to my mom and smiled. From then on, I earned the nickname "Snaggle tooth".
Not a PC thug 10-01-04, 10:55 PM Another Marine Corps boot camp experience. They took out my bottom molars. They covered my face with a dental dam and I swear broke one out with a chisel. It was like every nerve in my face and skull exploded. Then I had to go without pain meds for hours until I got Motrin - weak. They kept me in the hospital overnight, but kept waking me up every couple hours to take vital signs - double weak.
stlkev70 10-01-04, 11:21 PM I have never had to have one pulled before but I need to have and impacted wisdom tooth pulled which has to be removed my an oral surgeon. Dental insurance even the good ones are crappy at best. THe oral surgeon wants $500 thats with the insurance in order to pull it.
SouthernImage 10-02-04, 01:49 AM The only teeth I had removed were wisdom teeth :D All the others came out on their own. I used to wiggle them with my tongue.
Slayergrrl 10-02-04, 06:41 PM All of my baby teeth came out on thier own. But when I was 17 I had to get a few of my back teeth pulled. I had a nasty habit of brushing my teeth after I ate or drank something. I was brushing my teeth up to 15 or more times a day. As a result I wore out all of the enamal. I was so afraid of losing my teeth because I smoked. Strange. I still brush my teeth 4 times a day.
Michelle_TAV 10-03-04, 04:43 AM My mom hates dentists/pain so I actually pulled out my own first toothe, and all the rest follwoing that.... my mom loved the idea and from then on, I was the official toothe puller - I pulled out most of my brother and sisters teeth..every morning I would check how loose they were, and then in the afternoon, I'd put them in front of mirror so that they could see what I was doing...If it didn't come out first time, we'd wait until the next day...
AngelicR 10-07-04, 01:32 PM I've only ever had my wisdom teeth pulled and that was back when I was 18. The experience wasn't bad at all. The pain was the aftermath of it all. I got an infection and had to go back and have shots, but all was fine. :yesnod:
SilenceOfOctober 11-10-04, 09:53 PM I was at home and my mom said it was time for that tooth to go. I took off running out the door, down our deck stairs and thru the yard crying. I thought at first you meant as in an adult LOL. All my teeth as a kid fell out on there pretty naturally.
I did have a lower molar pulled when I was 18. Tho only half of it was left. Got kicked in the head with a boot. Thats always fun isnt it? Ah I miss those days *sigh*
Miss INXS 5-23-05, 02:58 AM Fortunately I've never had to have one pulled. :D
*Knocks on wood*
tommypuettfan71 5-27-05, 04:02 PM I was 9 and my dad had been given some pills to calm me down as I had ADHD only thing was, with me those pills back fired and I became even more hyper than I normally was, I even remember the dentist asking my dad if he'd given me the pills and he said yes I gave her both as instructed and this is the result! However the dentist managed to pull my stubborn baby tooth out, but not without me biting his finger a few times, panicstricken as I was!! :hyper:
My baby teeth more or less fell out on their own. I remember oine that I pulled at school and then lost it. My teacher was kind enough to write my mom a little note stating that I had lost a tooth at school. :D
T've had all 4 wisdom teeth removed, with no anesthesia. Guess I must have a high tolerance for pain, because I remember lots of blood, but no serious pain.
