Has anyone read an advance copy of King's From A Buick 8? Or any thoughts on Black House?
Read some posts earlier from Anne Rice fans. I've read the Vamp Cronc's through Memnoc and then she lost me.
I'm on about page 200 of Black House. Quite a bit of intro stuff so it took me a while to get into it. Now, when things are picking up, I am already having trouble putting it down. A few things are peaking my curiosity so away I go.
This is one of those books that I don't read at bedtime so that I don't stay up all night.

Well you're getting into it about 200 pages before I did. I'm very hot and cold with Peter Straub and can look at the book and see who's writing what. But I am a big fan of the dark tower series and Black House is begininng to answer a lot of those questions including that of "Ted" for Heart's in Atlantis. The problem I have with Straub is the same problem I have with a lot of Anne Rice' stuff. She spends hours describing the door nob. lol
Read Tailsman years ago, in my teens even-a long, long time ago on a planet far, far away-and really dug it.
Read on fellow King fan. Black House gets back to the King basics. There is blood and gore, however, it is intelligently written and compelling. Looking forward to From A Buick 8.
You should try some of Anne Rice's other vampire books. Tells the stories of some of the older vampires. Very interesting to learn more about these characters. Can't wait for her new one next month.
Not a big fan of Stephen King myself. Read a couple of his books, but just not my style of things. He is a great writer though.

Would like to take a gander at some of Rice's other books. The witch books perhaps.
As for King, I'm hit or miss. Half of his stuff I really like and the other half I can't get into. I would recomend Four Past Midnight for the sheer brilliance of his writing. It's a collection of novellas. I would also recomend Gerald's Game. Probably one of his most over looked pieces of work and one of my favorites. No monsters here. Just one of those "wow, that could really happen" stories.
Well, back to the grind. I'm working on the formatting of my own novel this morning for submission. Writing is fun. Formatting stinks. :P:hammer:
