For me, Motley Crue was the catalyst that started my obsession with music. Yes, I got my 1st KISS record at age 3 & always had music around my house, but the Crue sort of sealed my fate.

So my question is, where were you when you 1st heard the Crue's music?

I first heard "Live Wire" at about 8-9yrs. old at my cousins' house. All my cousins are boys so, as you can guess, I was a tomboy. I then saw the video for "L.W." on MTV & later that same year, the "Shout..." album came out. That record changed my life forever.
Everything I am, I owe about 80% of it to the Crue, 10% to GN'R, & the rest to my mom. I wasn't close to my family, including my mother, but she did have some positive influence on my life.

Your opinions?

Okay, Motely Crue.. The first time I heard Motley Crue (as far as I know, anyway) was when I was with my friends in a Bronco one day. We used to all pack up into this huge Bronco and go places and do whatever. Usually cruise the Ave or go to Adventure Land (an park or whatever with rides and all that). I really remember hearing "Merry Go Round" alot.. Was that off their first album??

I have a bit of a different thing here to. The SECOND time I actually really started hearing Motley Crue was probably the song "Girls, Girls, Girls"..

I actually became a fan with their Dr. Feelgood album. I liked ALOT of songs from that one.. That's my favorite from them.

Motley Crue..man, they were such bad boys.
The first song I heard was "Home Sweet Home" off Theatre of Pain..I think that's the name of the album. Anyway, that was in the 7th grade and I was hooked from there on in. The whole Dr.Feelgood album rocked..songs like "Girl don't go away mad, just go away" and "Without you"

Smoking in the Boys Room. I love that song, very rebellious and fun. Dr. Feelgood made me laugh the first time I heard it because my friend when I was a kid used to call herself Doctor Feelgood when someone was upset. 'Come tell Doctor Feelgood whats wrong'

The first Crue song that I heard was "Girls, Girls Girls", I was like 9 or something. The 1st video that I saw was "Shout At The Devil" and that when I took one look at Nikki and I stopped playing with my Ken dolls. Actually, true story, I brought a bunch of Ken dolls and dressed them up like the Crue, and I did a set for Poison and KISS. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/cool.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif I still have them!

Oh, wow. Nikki91.. Does the original version sound different? I'd be interested in hearing it. I never did buy that album, but I probably will now since I'm catching up on my CD collection...

Tydestra. I bet there are a lot of people who'd buy those dolls. hehe You could be in business! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

I don't think it sounds that different. The newer version came out on their greatest hits cd-Decade of Decadance. It's been awhile since I'd heard the newer version, but from what I remember it doesn't

Actually... you're not the 1st person who has told me to sell them, not to meantion that I might get my KISS one signed this year, when I go to their concert, I have a friend that does Security and he might let me back-stage. And I'm taking my dolls to the show, in case I get back-stage... I'll press my luck and see if I can get them signed http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/cool.gif

The first time I heard the Crue was from my friend John who let me borrow his "Theatre Of Pain" tape. Shortly after I was hooked and bought a copy of the tape.

WOW! WHen was this thing started, and how did I miss it? THe first time I heard any Motley Crue song, is a wierd story. I had just move to Philadelphia, and like the 3rd day I was there, I was at the bus stop. Some kid named JD hitme in the head with a piece of ice, so I started to chase him. He fell and broke his arm. He told his mom that I pushed him, then stepped on his arm. So his mom called my mom, and they decided that my punishment would be that I had to clean his room. So I go over, and he has this evil sounding music playing. I had never heard really hard rock before, and was like a top 40 type of listener. And he has TOO YOUNG TO FALL IN LOVE blasting. I was hooked. I asked who it was, and he showed me the album (snicker) and I was mesmorised (I think there should be a Z in there someplace)! I go to the local record store and tell the guy I want the Motley Crue tape, well, he hands me one, and I dont even look at it and bring it home. Turns out I got the TOO FAST FOR LOVE tape, and not SHOUT AT THE DEVIL. So now, I was the coolest guy, because I had thier "other" tape when everybody else had the same one.

I don't remember where I was, but my brother liked Smokin' In The Boys Room and I ended up getting the tape. I loved them from then on!! But when I heard Without You on MTV (back when they played VIDEOS), I fell in love!! Plus I had a huge crush on Vince anyway, for my birthday the year Dr. Feelgood came out, my cousin & then best friend bought me that tape & a Without You black t-shirt. I love the whole tape, every song STILL!! Then I bought the greatest hits on that came out in 1991 I think? But one of my favorites is Girls Girls Girls for some reason?! The Crue rules!!!!!

Sal,
Since it has been a year I'm sure you noticed that the two versions of "Home sweet home" are quite different. 2 things wrong with the '91 version:
1 Electric Drums
2 Synthesizers (sp?) instead of piano
not as good as the original.

My goodness! No! I haven't noticed! I will have to buy the CD that has the original to hear it. Either that, or dig out my cassette tapes!

Ok, this might sound pathetic, I haven't really listened to Motley Crue until about a month ago when I went to my friend's and Girls Girls Girls was on his mp3 play list. It was set on random and the song played and I was like Hey, i know this song! (probably from when I was a kid listening to tunes with my mom in the car) So I looked up some of their music and now I love them!

Ok, I was at a girl's house and she was playing the Shout At The Devil album. The song "Too Young To Fall In Love" came on and it made me ask her to copy it for me. So for weeks I'd jump around the house singing the whole album. The energy on it is phenomenal. I think that same day, I also told the girl to strip for me. hahaha I was a bad bad boy.

My first Crue song was 'Shout at the Devil'. I heard it in high school from a couple kids that brought the Album (remember the vinyl days folks?) into school. I remember they got detention for bringing 'that kind' of music to school. I thought to myself.. "self... go get that record cause adults don't like it" LOL Oh the memories

Ok, I know this is an old topic, but being the diehard Crue fan that I am, I felt compelled to anwser. I first heard the Crue back in 1984 when I was in Catholic school. My friend Brian introduced me to Shout At The Devil during lunch one day. My first thought, "We're so going to hell for this". My second thought, "Where can I get a copy of this?" LOL! Then when I went and bought it myself and saw the guys, man, I knew I was lost from that point on. Been in love ever since. I flip back and forth between Too Fast For Love and Generation Swine as my favorites, but really, with the exception of the self titled album (cd), it's all good. LONG LIVE THE CRUE!!!!

First time I ever heard Motley Crue was about 1983. There was this guy who was a big time metal head. He would open up his window and turn up the volume. He would play AC/DC, Van Halen, Kiss, King Cobra, and so on. He came home with the "Shout At The Devil" record and played "Look That Kill". I was blown away! I got into the Crue in 1987 with the "Girls, Girls, Girls" CD. But he got me on my way to buying Van Halen, AC/DC, Motley Crue and so many more. Long live rock!
