View Full Version : If You Had One 6 Hour Videocassette
Iluvthe80s 10-07-01, 04:43 AM If you were able to go back in time armed with one 6 hour videocassette, VCR, and a video camera. What visual things would you tape from the 80's? It can be TV, movies, concerts you saw, things you did with friends, etc.
I know I would record all my favorite bands off of Live Aid (that would probably take 1/2 of the tape), some MTV, and spend the rest of some of the best times with my friends from school.
I'd record all the great and stupid things I did with my friends - especially with my best friend Tammy! We were crazy girls LOL.
If this is the only 6 hour tape I was ever allowed to have with the choice of only one movie right now that would be The Breakfast Club. Video - U2,Aha, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Phil Collins/Genesis/Gabriel/Mechanics, :)
Good Thread Iluv80s. It made me think of some great times I wish I could recapture :)
80sTrivia 10-07-01, 10:13 AM I think that I would also want to tape parts of the Live Aid concert. I would also record just bits and pieces of MTV, particularly their New Years Eve Party, which was always a blast and full of fun guests.
MDC: Official Stalker of DD86 :D
outofplacechild 10-07-01, 01:23 PM 2 episodes of "Jem", 2 episodes of "Solid Gold", 2 episodes of "Just Say Julie" and 2 hours of 80s music videos with original VJ introductions in-between. An episode of "Solid Gold" was an hour long, right? If only a half-hour long, I'm back at 5 hours. Alright, toss in there the "American Bandstand" episode where Madonna, in one of her first network appearances, said she wanted to rule the world.
Sincerely,
John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

Totally!
I'd go with:
Jem Episodes
Smurf episodes
80s music videos with vj intros, etc
The Duran Duran concert I went to
And I'd fill the rest with things that my best friend and I did together. :D
torque91 10-08-01, 10:51 AM NBC episodes of Late Night with David Letterman circa the prancing waters era. I would also need to make sure I got the Crispin Glover episode. I would also like to have that spinning colorful "special" lead-in that CBS would flash on the screen before they would air stuff like the Charlie Brown Christmas special. Anyone know what I am talking about?
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! I can still recall the the excitement every year when that little SPECIAL thing would spin around, and then we would have (IMO The best Peanuts special ever) The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
I still can remember when I first realised that cartoon werent the only thing that got the SPECIAL intro. It nearly broke my heart.
The whole decade condensed into only six hours? This is a hard one.
I'd have to put some favorite videos on at least from U2, Def Leppard, & Duran Duran, plus some Live Aid. Most of us seem to want some Live Aid video. Is there an actual video archived somewhere that could be for sale?
But most of the video I'd want to fill up with the crazy things I did with my friends as a teenager. Those were some fun days. :)
nolanbuc 10-11-01, 04:37 AM I would record my great-grandmother, who died when I was a teenager; and my kids when they were babies.
morningmyst 10-13-01, 06:17 PM I think that I'd video tape my friends and I at the high school football games. Those were the funnest!!!
Also, concerts I went to when I was in school.
I would tape the Def Leppard concert I went to, the "Pour Some Sugar On Me" video (right, topcat?? LOL), and the rest would be filled with friends and as much of my Dad as possible, and my husband. (I would say my son, also, but he appeared in 1991.)
ImSoooSure 10-15-01, 06:21 AM Well, to relay the true feel of the 80's to our younger audience I'd record the Oingo Boingo, Simple Minds and David Lee Roth concerts I went to. I'd record the night Vilji and I re-wrote Duran Duran's Rio into B.O. I would also love a recording of some of the parties I went to. I guess that would take up most of the tape. What a fun tape! :D
djdaffy1227 6-28-03, 08:51 AM 3 hours of NWA wrestling and 3 hours of WWF wrestling. I'd really love to have one of my favorite matches of all time. When Pedro Morales wrestled The Magnificent Murrocco (sp?) for the intercontinental belt!
Caligula 6-28-03, 12:24 PM I'd videotape 4 hours of my family, grandparents with myself and the last 2 hours of my friends and I , adding in couple scenes playing sports
Ugly Kid Jeff72 6-28-03, 12:45 PM I guess eveything! just walking down the street with a camera would be interesting to see now. But to go back in time with a camera I think I would go by a G-N-R ticket at RiverPort Amphitheatre, and tape AXL till he jumps off stage and kicks my ass. So I can collect a little of his $$$, and get that entire night of destruction on tape. Wow! That was a great night!
BlueMolly2001 6-28-03, 01:57 PM I'd record the first 3 hours of MTV, then I'd videotape the Who concert I went to in 1989.
