Did you know that Iron Maiden has an album called The Soundhouse Tapes that had only 5,000 copies printed? It is now a vinyl collector's item, valued at $200 or more.

They have been together for over twenty years.

It didn't take long before Maiden released their first real single, "Running Free". Along with the new single a well-known 'character' was introduced; Eddie. Eddie was designed by Derek Riggs, it's the monster which can be found on nearly all of Iron Maiden's sleeves. Iron Maiden didn't want to reveal all of Eddie just yet, therefore they decided that Eddie's face was not to be exposed prior to the album release, thus rendering an Eddie whose face is covered by a shadow.

Now, folks!!! Don't think I actually know all this stuff about these bands!! I just look it up on the 'net, and put a few tidbits in here to start a convo and see what people who love that band know.

So, if you'd like to add to the convo, but don't know a factoid, just look it up!! :) Or comment on what's been said.

I just wanted to toss that out there before I did too many more of these, and y'all thought I was some sort of egg head.

Bruce Dickinson is an accomplished fencer, something reflected in his songwriting credit for "Flash of the Blade".

Didja know Iron Maiden's "Bring your daughter to the slaughter" knocked Cliff Richard's "Saviour's day" out of the #1 spot on the British charts in 1991. Bruce said that was the best part of having a #1 single.

Didja know.....

Their first album was released in 1980 and was self-titled.

To add to what dj said: The single, "Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter," was granted the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Song Of The Year, but it nonetheless gave the band its first #1 U.K. hit.
