Are there any famous people in your family tree? I have a couple.

Stan Musial..the baseball player is a cousin to my husband.

On my dad's side of the family..there was a civil war hero and there is EDMONSON COUNTY in KENTUCKY that is named after him. Years ago, we were on vacation and just happened to pass through a town that had the plaque up about it...we thought it was kind of funny and my dad mentioned it to a local at the gas station. You would have thought we were celebs..the guy called his wife to come right down to meet us, they gave us kids free snowcones, and even invited us to stay for dinner at their house. I guess that was our 15 min. of fame.

On my dad's side somewhere is ROBERT FULTON..he invented the steam engine (or something like that haha..not exactly sure)

NOW...let's hear about some of the golden branches on YOUR family tree.

My grandmother on my dad's side was distantly related to Davey Crockett. My step-dad is 3rd cousin to Merle Haggard. And that's about it. :D

No famous people in my family, though there are a couple that have have some great acccomlishments. My grand father was the last living member of the foreign legion in the US from WW1 and my cousin designed the logo for the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland......

My husband is way into genealogy. (pardon the Valley Girl speak, I am really tired) Lately he has been working on my side of the family, finding my dad's grandparents, who emigrated from Finland in the late 1890s.

One of my ancestors is Anne Hutchinson, the early American poet. (Massachusetts, late 1600s?) I always liked her poetry when I had to read it in school-- didn't realize she was a great-great-great-etc.-grandmother.

I know that my father's family is traced back at least to the 1700's...a couple of years ago, a distant cousin contacted our part of the tree just wanting info. We got to emailing back and forth. She sent me these great articles and old photos. It can be interesting even though a hundred years from now, I'll be known as the person they couldn't pry away from the computer!

I am really enjoying reading these...keep them coming! :)

I grew up hearing stories about an ancestor from the 1100's. The stories were passed to my mom from her father. He died before I was born. I'm supposed to be descended from King Robert Bruce of England. (He's in Braveheart. lol)

Want to reaserch my family though and see what else I can find.

If there are any famous people in my family tree, well I have not heard of them yet. However, I do know that there was supposedly a town that was named after my last name. I am not sure if the town has that same name.

I find the concept of genealogy fascinating, but haven't really done any myself. My father did some a couple of years ago, but haven't really spoken much about it and I haven't asked. Someday I would love to try a bit myself to find out some more about my ancestors - probably a bunch of nuts :goofy: :D

I'm not related to anyone real famous, My grandmother's cousin owned a chain of building supply stores in Atlantic Canada called
McCullough's in the 70's and 80's but he eventually sold out . there must have been 20 or more stores so it was a pretty big operation

I forget his name, but he's in the movies, you'd know him if I could remember his name. And I'm related to a king from Italy, I don't know the year or anything, I need to listen more.
