during the 80's how did you get along with your teachers?

Good poll Cal! I was liked by some and not so much by others. I pretty much tried to stay invisible. My high school added Fashion Design and Interior Design in my Jr. & Sr. Year, thats the teacher I loved and who loved me, since it was something I was finally interested in.:D

Got along with some. I wasn't really a problem student but most of my teachers were frustrated with me. I never worked up to my potential. I took the easy way out. I did as little as I had to. I passed by the skin of my teeth every year.I would never wish a student like me on any teacher.

I got along with some didn't with others. It really funny that some teachers I got along with excellent usually the male teachers in theire 20's who liked to talk sports or music outside class. I did have a few who weren't so fond of me usually the older teachers who weren't too much fun to begin with. My grade 7 math teacher actually pushed and hit me so hard i fell out of my desk... the whole class was going oooohhhh you can sue him. I ran home to tell my father thinking we were gonna make a fortune sueing him, and all my father did was get mad at me asking what i had done to drive the teacher crazy...... I bet the old sob is in his 70's today, like to see him push me now:D

I would have to say that I got along with some of the teachers that I had in high school. Most of the ones that I got along with were in some way involved with the school's football team.

I got along with some better than others, but I was my wife's (before we were married) english teachers favorite.

Some better than others...I have had some teachers that I've really loved, and I've also had horrible teachers that f***ed me up by not teaching me anything (and then I had trouble in that subject the next year).

I was always the teachers pet in my school days. In fact, they would all write me letters every year up till a few summers ago. :p

I get along with the younger ones better than the old. They seem to like the retro things I do.

I'm the slacker that the teachers don't seem to mind. I slack off...but they don't hate me. :D

Well apart from a two year period where I was the class stirrer, I generally got on with most of my teachers. I even got on well with one who everyone hated. For some reason he took a liking to me and didn't treat me like dirt, like he did with most of his students.

Daffy, you just described me in high school!
Do you ever regret it? I know I do, especially now that I have kids. I have ZERO credibility when I nag them about their schoolwork.

BTW, Good poll, Cal! :thumb:

Well I was barely in grade school in the 80s, but thru the 90s, most of my teachers hated me, along with almost everyone else.

I was that smart ass kid that always had something to say, especially when it was a teacher i didnt care for much and he/she was wrong... i lived for those moments in HS :D

But then I had some kick ass teachers that challenged me always... so they are the ones that i thank and remember fondly

i never did any homework, expect in classes i loved, didnt pay a lot of attention in class but i still passed.

I bumped into my chem teacher in HS the other day and he asked me how I for 2 whole semesters never really didnt do any of his work, expect projects, didnt take notes or paided attention, yet passed his class with an 80. He said he hated passing me but couldnt fail me :mwaha:

I got along with most teachers - but as others has already mentioned I also did what was needed and not much else. My mother got a lot of "He doesn't live up to his potential blah blah" at school meetings. But somehow they liked me still, and I them - well most of them......

I got along with most of my teachers. I really never had a problem. :)

Now in 3rd grade I had a nightmare of a teacher. :irked: She sent me to the office more times than I can count. She needlessly picked on me. I spent most of my 3rd grade in the hallway or principals office. She really had a vendetta against me. :(

In high school I was the kid the teachers would say" I expect more from you, you're not like the other kids" to, whatever that meant. I was definitly a follower and not a leader.

The teachers didn't know I existed. I would never be called on probably because the teachers couldn't pronounce my name. I really didn't care becuase it was much easier to skip class when they didn't know you existed. I would always slip out the window during class

I was in the good graces of virtually all my teachers... unless you count kindergarten, when I was still in my Only Child, So I Rule the World phase and bit the principal on the arm

I started having conflicts with some of my teachers in high school, but mostly after the 90s had begun, so they don't count for this poll. :D I really didn't get along with my Civics teacher junior year, we were always sniping at each other. I'm quite sure it was because he didn't like my boyfriend. OK, whatever.

For the most part I got along with all my teachers. I was kind of invisible in most classes because I did my work and didn't cause problems with any of the other kids.

I've already told Wendy she needs to discipline the kids when it comes to schooling  I do, however, help Cody with his homework.

I can't say I really regret it, I mean, after all, I'm doing exactly what I always wanted to do in my life. How many people can say that? The only thing I regret about school is that I didn't play any sports. That would have given me a reason to get better grades.

I got along well with most of my teachers. If I didn't like the subject I'd try to stay as invisible as possible, but if it was a subject I liked I always enjoyed the teacher more. Funny how that works.:p

Got along with some (Mrs. Curtis, 11th and 12th Grade Main Teacher)...

Others were just jackasses (Mrs. Fernandez of several miscellaneous classes, Mrs. Eagles-ton the Spanish teacher, and every Phys Ed. and Health Teacher after Elementary School).

One teacher was just a c*nt (Mrs. Colombo, who stood by and did nothing while I was pummelled mercilessly by some cigarette-hooked slopehead troglodyte).

This goes for the students as well, but that's for another thread.

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

I got along with most of my teachers...there was always one or two "mortal" enemies amongst them however. My particular non-favorite we called "Beaker" cuz he had a tall skinny head. What a moron...we used to count how many times he would clap his hands and say "well" during the class...sometimes as many as 75 in a 50 minute class. Try paying attention to him!

Most of the other teachers loved me (which made things much easier when I started skipping class). I can remember not going to to a couple of classes for over a week because the teachers thought that I was working on our school play...They were so easy!

I also had an asshole English teacher during my brief time in college who didn't express that much sympathy for the 9/11 attacks...

He was the guy I ranted about last year who called us a "nation of Dr. Frankensteins who create our own enemies", and that "we had the attacks coming to us". And this butt-f*ck said what happenned was a tragedy...I wanted to say to him "Make up your mind, dingus. You're either with us or without us...you can't have it both ways."

Most of my teachers after the Elementary School were scum...

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

I got along pretty well with most of my teachers. I attended the funeral of my kindergarten teacher a few years ago. (I was in her last kindergarten class before she retired back in 68) I run into some of my former teachers to this day and we'll stand and talk. Most of them are retired now..(been out of high school since *81*).

I got along famously with a few of my teachers in the 80s. The rest were just sort of blah.

There were two history teachers and one math teacher that I used to bump into regularly in the pub. We'd sit there and discuss the Cuban missile crisis and Alexander's emancipation of the serfs. I guess that's why they never ratted me out for drinking underage. :D

One english teacher was very special. She taught me Humanism (lots of Shakespeare, Northrop Frye, Sheridan, etc.) in my final year of high school and had a huge influence on me. We ued to go to the movies (sat through the 6 hour Soviet version of War & Peace in Russian with subtitles once), go out for dinner. She'd cook for my girlfriend and I. Got drunk with some of her friends more than once. lol. We kept in touch for quite some time after I graduated but I have lost touch with her now. Should make an effort to look her up. I miss her. :(

During elementary school and high school I got along great with my teachers (With only one or two exceptions).

Middle school was a different story, as some of the teachers were real a$$holes.
