I had a great week's vacation until yesterday when I started feeling sick. I don't know if it was something I ate Saturday night or what but I was pretty ill. Then last night I got REALLY sick, and I was up all night "riding the porciline bus".
I then decided calling my boss, well he was pissed that I would do this. He told me that he "had a feeling that I would do something like this" and that "he's not sure if he wants me back". I've been really good to him and for the most part he's a nice guy. He's the one who let me take this vacation. I pleaded with him and I told him that I didn't mean to do this. Yeah, I'm going to go to work puking my ass off. I love my job and I don't want to loose this one. But after what my boss said I don't know what to do.
I did call my job coach and she agreed with me about calling in sick and didn't know why my boss would do that. I haven't called in sick for over two months. My boss has this theory that if you can stand you should go to work.
I think I should go look for a new job. I don't really want to though, because I do love this job. *sigh*
I just needed to get this off my chest.

Sounds like your boss is a real A-Hole and is running a prison camp. I say try to find a new job!

It's not like that at all. He's actually a sweet guy who just loses his temper at times. He's not an a-hole. But if he tries to fire me I'm going to talk to my job coach and ask her to talk to him. I'm not going to lose this job. I can't afford it right now.

Nice guy sometimes doesn't sound like an ideal situation. Bosses aren't supposed to lose their temper, they are the ones that are supposed to remin calm. I like my job also but only here because I have to work, that being said I want to be in an envirinment that is as pleasureable as possible. I understand that you love your job so maybe a talk with your coach will fix this up. Is this guy the owner or just a manager, and if he is not the owner, does he have a boss that you can talk with? Good luck BlueMolly2001 with whatever decision you make.....

I say go to work and barf on his desk. Bosses like that deserve that to happen.

I would say just try to go to work for as long as you think that you can make it.

Who does your job while you are away, Bluemolly? Maybe your boss has to, or find someone else, to do your job? Could it be he was planning for your return? With you calling off he now has that added burden. :)

Boss/owners carry a heavy burden. The entire buisness falls on their shoulders. The little things build up and your patience and understanding fly right out the window.

I see you said, "I haven't called in sick for over two months." Do you get sick alot? It just seems like that is a short time between call offs. Speaking for myself, I have not called off in over 2 years. Unless I am near death, I go to work. Yes it sucks but that is life. ;)

MHO..;)

Over all, I like sketchers idea.

No, I don't get sick a lot. I'm a pretty healthy person. The last time I was sick I had a major sinus infection and I had to go to the ER.
My boss runs his own business, and he worked by himself before he hired me. He hired me to take off the burden of his job. I didn't purposely get ill. And I didn't purposely want to do this. I'm still not feeling the greatest, but I feel slightly better than earlier on.

I would go to work sick just to show him that I was sick. He should be more understanding than that. If he can't understand, then maybe you should look for another job. Whatever you decide, good luck! :)

I am glad to know you are a healthy person. :thumb: I don't know what your job is but it seems important to your boss. :)

I can understand where your boss is coming from. Knowing I had a receptionist I was able to schedule my appointments closer and pull more money into the shop. If she had to call off it put me in a bind. I would run extremely late and have upset customers. Also, if I was planning on taking the afternoon off, my plans are ruined.

I know If I was sick enough to call off from work, I would not be online. Course, I am only speaking for myself. :) :) :)

Well, today was a better day, because my boss apologized for the way he acted yesterday, so for now my job is safe. :) I still have to make up the time, but I told him that I would stay until 4pm when he had to leave early (I work until 3, so an hour doesn't matter).
I also found out my boss is going on vacation on the week of Labor Day, so that will be an interesting time. I get to work with a substitue.
