RetroMan 5-05-00, 09:30 AM Weird Al is the master of parody! I have a friend who has built a shrine in his bedroom with a huge picture of Al with his accordian in a frame as the centerpiece - he has all the film clips on video disc (the old LP style that's obsolete) as well as Japanese singles that he can't even play?!? man! can you get a bigger fan than that???
------------------
Sal Collaziano 5-05-00, 07:56 PM Wow. You know a Wierd Al Lunatic! Some people go a bit overboard! haha http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Sal Collaziano
Yep! He's an all-time legend http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Where does he come up with all these songs. Oh, I do the same thing, now I know where http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Roemello 5-06-00, 02:20 AM The creative mind is a beautiful thing http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif He's definitely the king of spoofing. I couldn't stop laughing watching Armish Paradise...I know it's not 80's, but DAMN is it funny http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif That one, Fat, Smells Like Nirvana, and Headline News are my fave vids from him.

Sal Collaziano 5-06-00, 02:39 AM I Want a New Duck! (Parody of I Want a New Drug by Huey Lewis and the News)
I want a new duck.
One that won't try to bite.
One that won't chew a hole in my socks.
One that won't quack all night.
I want a new duck.
One with big webbed feet.
One that knows how to wash my car,
And keep his room real neat.
One that won't raid the ice box.
One that'll stay in shape.
One that's never gonna try
To migrate or escape,
Or I'll tie him up with duck tape.
I want a new duck.
A mallard, I think.
One that won't make a mess of my house,
Or build a nest in the bathroom sink.
I want a new duck.
One that won't steal my beer.
One that won't stick his bill in my mail.
One that knows "The duck stops here."
One that won't drive me crazy
Waddling all around.
One who'll teach me how to swim,
And help me not to drown.
And show me how to get down.
"How to get down", baby. Get it?
(quack, quack, quack, quack, quack)
I want a new duck.
Not a swan or a goose.
Just a drake I can dress real cute.
Think I'm gonna name him Bruce.
I want a new duck.
Not a quail or an owl.
One that won't molt too much.
One that won't smell too foul.
One that won't beg for bread crumbs,
Hangin' around all day.
He'd better mind his manners.
Better do just what I say,
Or he's gonna be duck pate'.
Duck pate', yeah yeah.
Hey. I did a few of those too! My favorite was "Addicted to Drugs". Might as well face it you're addicted to drugs.. bah!

Pindooca 5-06-00, 02:17 PM I just adore Weird Al. I was lucky enough to have front row (!!!) seat to see him live at the Metropol in Harrisburg, PA for his "Off the Deep End" tour.
Sometimes it bugged me that he parodied music I liked, but now that he's picking on god-awful 90's music, I love him even more! : )
Go AL!
------------------
Sal Collaziano 5-06-00, 02:21 PM hehe yea, that's true.. He is getting the 90s songs now. Cool. But wait. Rock is making a huge comeback. hehe Uhoh! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Roemello 5-06-00, 04:44 PM Imagine what he could do with that Kid Rock's tunes...lol...those are just asking for a parody.

Iluvthe80s 5-09-01, 12:36 AM You forgot, "I Lost On Jeopardy". That is one of my faves.http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif
Ooohh.. Bedrock Anthem (Chili Pepper's Give it Away)
loved that one! The video was so awesome!!
Also.. "Ugly Girl" (Aqua's Barbie Girl) "I'm an ugly girl, my face makes you hurl, its sad I have it, I should bag it, acne everywhere, unwanted facial hair, I'm a relation to Frankenstein's creation.. (you're so ugly, you disgust me)"
How about "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi" That one's pretty funny, too!
But you can't forget the very first one he did... "My Bologna!" (The Knack's My Sharona)
Al Rules!!
------------------
ALL HAIL TO THE ALMIGHTY CREATOR.. SAL IS GOD!
Roemello 5-09-01, 02:18 AM Wow Iluv80s...you're bringing back topics from beyond the grave! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif Very cool! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif
If you want a good laugh at good 'ol Weird Al's lyrics, I have a fairly large collection of his greatest parodies on my site at:

"Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive."
I think that Amish Paradise would have to be my fave by him. Don't think he had ever taken on Rap before that and it was just funny to see.
I have a sick little love for his polka medleys. Especially the one on Dare to be Stupid.
"One More Minute" is probably my favorite of his "non-spoof" songs. (by which I mean songs that aren't direct take-offs on other songs) Before I even hit the road of romantic angst I was doomed to walk from age 14 to the present, *g* I loved that song. Maybe it was a premonition. Hehe!
Oh, I forgot "Christmas at Ground Zero." I like to sing that one in the car when I'm looking for a parking place, come December 20th or so, when I always do my shopping.
What a crazy fluke, we're gonna get nuked on this jolly holiday!
I did make the mistake of singing it in front of my mother-in-law once. That did not go over well! LOL
Dancingdoll1986 7-27-01, 04:57 PM I know this is going to sound strange...but I am a huge "Weird Al" fan. Last summer I was visiting my 'rents down in Charleston, SC, and he came to play at one of the theaters there. Well, not knowing anyone down there but the 'rents, I went by myself. He is hilarious!! I have every LP that came out, and every CD, (those I can at least listen to...I have no turntable anymore!), the boxed set, "Al in the Box", and for Christmas this past year, I got the movie "UHF". He got it for me on a private auction, and would only tell me that it cost him more than $130!!! (I wonder who else was bidding on it!!)
He is the KING of parody!!!! I can't wait to get his next release!!!
~G
Roemello 7-27-01, 08:16 PM That's not strange at all....Weird Al is the freakin' man! lol Even made a page at my site to house a bunch of his best parody lyrics....always a laugh to read those I recorded a bunch of videos off an MTV special on him a while back...what I don't have, I watch at Launch.com.
I've done parodies myself, but nothing like that of Master Al...lol
Weird Al is hilarious!!! I only wish he did more parodies.
SurlyOne 7-28-01, 09:14 PM For those of you with DVD players, there is an excellent DVD out with all of Al's videos on it! There's also a concert DVD of Al available, with 2 bonus videos from his last disc.
Al is going to direct the first video from the solo debut by Ben Folds.
nolanbuc 7-29-01, 06:48 AM Anyone remember the theme song Al did for "Johnny Dangerously"? "This Is the Life" was the title of the song, I think...funny shiznit! Also, did you know that "The Saga Begins" was not his first Star Wars parody song? He did one called "Yoda" to the tune of "Lola".
"My Yoda,Y-O-D-A,Yoda"
LOL http://www.plauder-smilies.de/laugh.gif
Weird Al is the best. I know all different kinds of people who love his songs.
What was that 'love ballad' he did,,,
"I'd rather lick all the toilets
in Grand Central Station
with my tongue,
than to spend
one more minute with you.."
i think she got the hint..lol
Dancingdoll1986 7-29-01, 08:18 PM My all time favorite phrase out of song would have to be:
"I'd rather rip my heart right out of my ribcage with my bare hands and then throw it on the floor and stomp on it till I die...than to spend one more minute with you!"
That was the phrase I used for 6 months after I broke off my engagement. (LONG STORY)
~G
Weird Al ROCKS! I had his cassettes of "Even Worse" and "Off The Deep End," and his CDs of "Alapalooza," "Bad Hair Day" and "Running With Scissors." There's a short song from "Running With Scissors" called "The Weird Al Show," and these are the lyrics:
Oh, this is the story 'bout a guy named Al
And he lived in the sewer with his hamster pal
But the sanitation workers really didn't approve
So he packed up his accordion and had to move
To a city in Ohio where he lived in a tree
And he worked at a nasal decongestant factory
And he played on the company bowling team
And every single night he had a strange recurring dream
Where he was wearing lederhosen in a vat of sour cream
But that's really not important to the story...
Well the very next year he met a dental hygenist
With a spatula tattooed on her arm
But he didn't keep in touch and he lost her number
Then he got himself a job on a tater tot farm
And he spentt his life savings on a split-level cave
20 miles below the surface of the earth
And he really makes a mightly fine jellybean and pickle sandwich
For what it's worth...
Then one day Al was in the forest trying to get a tan
When he heard the tortured screaming of a funny little man
He was caught in a bear trap and Al set him free
And the funny little man was as grateful as can be
And it turns out he's a big-shot producer on TV
So he gave us all a contract and what do you know?
Now he's got his very own WEIRD AL SHOW!!!
But my favorite all-time line of his has to be from "I Think I'm A Clone Now" (from "Even Worse"):
"I think I'm a clone now...and I can stay at home while I'm out of town."
*lol*
WEIRD AL ROCKS!
(Can't wait for his next album.)
wavemaster 8-20-01, 10:53 PM Weird Al is really...hmm, weird? :D
I have the "Even Worse" album somewhere among my remaining vinyls...seemed that it was too worse to be stolen...
His cameo appearance in "Naked Gun" (?) was just hilarious...didnŽt do much but standing in the door of the airplane, and I nearly pis..., wet myself with laughter.
Just a question...IŽve recently dlŽed a parody of Soundgardens "Black Hole Sun", titled "Asshole Sun" - was that also performed by Weird Al?
outofplacechild 8-20-01, 11:18 PM Nope. The only curses he uses are words like "Hell" and "Crack Ho". Can't say I'm too fond of that last one, but it was one song, so I'll let him slide.
Sincerely,
John "outofplacechild" Kilduff
Just saw an article belittling the comeback of 80s television on msn.com. It was another "God, the 80s sucked/that was us back then?/Dear Jesus, no, not the 80s/Duran Duran sucks/I hated my hair/I'd sooner get sodomized by the rednecks from 'Deliverance' than see reruns of 'A-Team' and 'Night Court'" P.O.S article. Can you tell I'm pissed?
I keep forgetting to post this link in here... it's a list of all the songs Weird Al has polka-fied, including lyrics.
Weird Al Polka! (http://www.com-www.com/weirdal/polkaed.html)
It is my dream to make a compilation CD with all Weird Al's polka tunes, and throw a party to celebrate. *g*
What about "Here's Johnny" the spoof on Johnny 5 Short Circuit :) And don't forget "Oh Vanna spin me a letter"
I just have to say UHF rules and so does his earlier stuff.
"Fish Heads"

Hey Zel, "Fish Heads" was Barnes and Barnes. Got lots of airplay on Dr. Demento. I should start a Dr. Demento thread... now that's an idea! I'll look to see if we've already done one first.
My favorite was one of his lesser known songs, an original, that busted on country music, called "Everything I ever wanted"
Lyrics go something like this:
Oh I couldnt live another day without you
actually on second thought I suppose I could
and
You're not perfect, but I guess you're pretty good.
something along those lines. Basically a country love song where he is telling his woman that she is good enough until somebody better comes along. FUNNY AS HELL!
It is on the POLKA PARTY cd
I also love all the polka medleys he does. That is just so WRONG it is Hilarious!
