This is an article that I found from the Yahoo News Board.

EMINEM is throwing his lot in with voyeuristic video phenomenon "Girls Gone Wild." The ribald rapper is the newest host of the home video series, in which libertine lasses are persuaded to flash their breasts for the camera. Eminem and "GGW" founder Joe Francis hit the Hamptons beaches last weekend to film some exhibitionist East End-ettes, and then flew back to the city on Francis' Lear Jet to gape at the strippers at Privilege in Chelsea. Francis, 29, tells Chaunce Hayden's Steppin' Out magazine that rappers like Eminem and Snoop Dogg are uniquely qualified to host the videos. "I think the hip-hop community is very sexual and edgy," he declared. "They don't seem to have a problem with us or our content." Francis revealed that both Mark McGrath and Tommy Lee inquired about the hosting gig, but were turned down. "Who cares about Tommy Lee?" Francis snickered. "We only want the best of the best. That's why we got Eminem." Asked if he ever tires of ogling breasts, Francis said: "I don't think that's possible . . . I swear, every time I see a naked girl, it's like seeing my first!"

Hmmm, I used to bash him until I sat down and listen to his stuff... while his delivery is way off, he is right on a lot of things he had said in the past

I love the bit for his video "Without Me", when he snatches his video from the kid who stole it from the record shop in his home when the kid is about to play it... it was freaking hysterical

Actually, if I were to voice my opinions on Eminem, I'd have to ban myself for bad conduct  I've listened to his music as unbiased as I could...and honestly, I see absolutely no rap talent at all...musically he's horrible, as a person...the same. Good beats to some of his songs, but most of those are taken from others anyway, so he ain't even original.

I'm impressed with myself....I actually made it through that calmly...

Okay, so far the count stands at 9 against Eminem (me, iluvthe80s, Sarg, *jen, Christine, sketcher, Glenn Gulia, Roemello and Therall)...

and 4 for Eminem (djdaffy, Caligula, Tydestra and Milani).

Anybody else want to add their 2 cents on a topic that may turn us into bitter, bile-spewing rival factions if it gets out of hand?

I believe that if you give somebody even a little credit, you kind of like that person as well. You could say 99 bad things about the person and 1 good thing, and to me, it would still mean that you liked them somewhat. Maybe not all the way, but an admiration is still there.

I like Eminem. I like other rap acts too like P. Diddy. (ducks flying objects) I'm not a *big* fan of rap, but I like these guys and think they are OK.

Keep in mind guys, the goal of the hardcore rapper is to piss of mainstream suburban America. Without controversy, there's no point. Lot of heavy metal acts are the same way. They need to piss off mainstream mini-van driving America.

Personal thing, that's all...

I just don't know what to believe. Should I be myself or follow the crowd? Be an individual or a lemming? This has been bugging me ever since Elementary School and possibly before it as well.

For the record, I feel white when I listen to a lot of urban music, and I admit that I shamefully hold fast to stereotypes about rappers.

I just feel lonely when it seems like more people are for something I don't like than against it. It makes me want to break my own vows of individuality so I'm not left to die when the game is up.

I often feel lonely, and it's because I'm too explicit with my opinions and I have overblown expectations when it comes to other people. Am I proud of it? Not by a long shot. Am I working on it? YES!

I often feel serious and take things seriously because I have never really been able to see the humor in life...I take words either at face value or as something to be dug into until an ultimate truth is revealed about said subject or person. Also, when you've been hospitalized, lost a parent, had friends move away and have been made fun of throughout life, you often feel stuffed in every orifice by forces unknown until you've lost whatever humor you had. You demand them to reveal themselves but they cloak themselves in disguises that would win awards if needed.

Look at my writer's portfolio on SNLYOU that I linked to in a post yesterday...look at the sketches I wrote and you'll see that they all have a taint of darkness to them. I can't see the humor in life...I laugh maybe 3 times a week...I smile about twice a week.

Since Eminem has always fooled people, I don't know what to believe about him. Is he a violent homophobic misogynist? Is he a happy doting parent with a wicked sense of humor? I want to slap him across his face and say "Who are you? What do you mean? What are you?".

I just want to know who people are, in the hopes that I can figure myself out, too.

Sorry for rambling...I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

OPC, you really need to relax and not take this so seriously. Eminem is just a celeb out to make money.

You say you have problems mixing in with people and get made fun of a lot, well the key to fitting in with people is not to care about fitting in with them. It's mind over matter, just don't care what others think of you or what they do. When you master that, you'll be OK.

Ham Hocks are the part of the pig right above the ankle or knee, LOTS of tastey meat! Grits are a hot cereal made from Hominy (spelling?) which is a large grain, sorta like corn. THese items are enjoyed routinely in the south.

I LOVE GRITS! :biglick:

Anyway... Usually what I do, John.. is if I see a trend out there and everyone is talking about it (musicwise) I'll check it out and give it a chance and then decide for myself... if I don't like it, no big deal.. but I'm usually pretty open minded about different music genres.. and personally, when Eminem first came out.. I didn't care for the guy.. then when he started getting popular, I thought.. maybe I'll just see what the hype is all about.. and I ended up liking it... not because everyone else did.. but that DID prompt me to take another listen...
Same way with Kid Rock.. I used to hate him.. but I thought to give it another try and I love him now..

There are several singers out there that I just can't get myself to like.. but that's my desicion... and it's not one you have to take seriously... Again.. I just listen to music to have fun.. and at my age.. I'm trying to be more open to new ideas.. (tired of feeling old) and I take it all as entertainment value.

hope this helps ;)

I heard his song "cleaning out my closet" today. While i am not a fan of most of todays rap, I can say that lyrically this is a good song. The guy is doing what a lot of poets have done, which is take his views on what is going on in his life, and express them creatively. Now, I dont agree with everything he says in the song, but I can see its "artistic" (thats not really the word, I cant think of something fitting) Merit. The guy has some talent, I think the image and what he tries to portray is getting in the way of his lyrics coming out and being meaningfull to some people.

I did some searching about the incident. And here is what I found.

The rapper's behavior inspired a round of boos at Radio City, and left Moby dumbfounded. "The truth is that I honestly, in all sincerity, thought that the whole Eminem thing was done in some semblance of humor until Eminem called me a pu--- (that was off camera) and then threatened to beat me up," Moby wrote on his official Web site. "I think that Eminem is talented and interesting but I'm kind of stunned at the anger that he has for me seeing as I'd never met him up until last night."

They might be friends .. but then again it could have been real. Either way I think he had a right to say what he did; he was just being himself.

Eminen...hmmmm..well, he uses "shocking" (although not much shocks me anymore) lyrics and statements and gestures and then calls it art, self expression. By that thinking, I could pee in your cereal and flip you off and call THAT art and self expression. Just because you sell well there is no indication that you have talent. I think prepackaged, slickly advertised exhibitionism is the sell of today. Everyone has rights under our Consitution to self expression, so I guess in that vein he would have the right to suck, too and he uses that right to it's fullest without hesitation.

Good for him, Britney, N"Stink, the Backdoor Boys, 98 Weewees, etc.

I was done with this topic, but your post made me have to reiterate....

First of all, I'm neither too old nor far up my own whatever....I'm in the same industry, remember? VERY condescending remark, brother Flix. :tsk:

As for the old rockers, no one I was ever really into pulled any of those publicity stunts. They let the music do the talking for them. The only people who pull publicity stunts are those without the talent that their music can make the statement for them. Sorry....Maiden never did anything wacky to get noticed. Neither did Priest, Helloween, Savatage, or any other band I follow. You can be sure as shit Livesay will never do anything either.

As for it being humorous....I'll try to remember that the next time I see a 12 year old with his hat on backwards calling a 12 year old girl his "beeyotch". Or when a 15 year old walks in front of my car and flashes a "gang sign" at me.

Others have made their opinions known in here bro, but none so far have been insulting. Just cause they don't agree with you they're either too old or have their head up their ass? Wow....:6ohboy:

Right on Pagan! I think the guy is an idiot and that his music sucks. The guy sounds like he is out of the 80's rap garbage bin. Not saying that I don't like some rap, just can't stand him. I see 8 and 9 year olds listening to this garabage, great parenting people, very scary. Can you say Vanilla Ice?

DC Rebel
9-04-02, 03:29 PM
You know, not to start an argument here, but it is really amazing how people are starting to blame all of societies' problems on Eminem. I remember kids flashing gang signs back in the 1980s. I do not remember Eminem making music in the 80s. I remember that there was hatred for gays in the 80s, once again, I do not remember Eminem making music in the 80s. Even one of my favorite bands, Guns and Roses, got into some trouble for hating gays with their "One in a Million" song.

I also love how every white rapper gets compared to Vanilla Ice. Eminem has alot more going for him than Vanilla Ice ever did. What Eminem does with his lyrics is staged. There have been alot of musicians who have taken on a different persona on the stage than they have in real life. If Eminem were really a bad person, then why did he get custody of his daughter over the mother of that daughter.

Maybe, people just need to relax and realize the old saying. "Different strokes for different folks."

This is the gist of this thread--opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one, everyone one occasion needs to use it. Nobody needs to get mad at anyone else about what they think. Nobody needs to feel like it's personal if someone doesn't agree with you. I may not always see eye to eye with everyone, but that doesn't change how I fundamentally feel about someone over something as unimportant as some rapper.

There is no call for a personal attack from anyone against anyone for any reason on any topic ever.

This is the coolest damn place on the internet and it's fueled by some of the greatest people I have ever communed with. Don't get your knickers in a twist over stupidity.

Hey!! He stole what I was gonna say!! :D

Besides, everyone's radio and TV comes with an 'Off' button and a 'Channel < or >' button. I understand if you don't like him, but geeeez!! Don't blame it all on Eminem! I don't own any of his CDs, and I never will, but I do listen to a couple of his tunes. The beat is good, even if the message is lacking.

Besides, WE are supposed to teach our children right from wrong....if you leave it to the rappers, death metal bands, actors/actresses, pop princesses or princes, then you get out of a kid what you DIDN'T BOTHER to put into him. ;) That's my 10 cents...my 2 cents is free...
