I have finally decided to attempt to store some pictures and stuff on floppy discs. This is a little bit confusing. MB, KB, bytes, 24K.....:vibrator: Is there a place on the net that explains all this?
I was able to format the disc and even add some pics to it before I ran out of space. I only have 3 pictures! There has to be a way to add more?

MB, KB, and bytes measures the amount of space available on a disc. A normal double-density floppy holds about 1.44MB (formatted) of space.
A KB is equal to 1024 bytes. A thousand (rounded off ;) ) of these would equal 1MB, or 1,000,000 bytes.
A byte would be the equivalent of just one character, whether it be a letter or a simple space between letters.
I assume you're confused on the measurement of bytes and disk space:confused: Hope this helps:)
As for pictures, if those are the measurements you mentioned, it's the size of picture (file size). If you pull up the directory on the floppy it should give the size of the file of that particular picture.
Pictures and sound take up a large amount of space in comparison to just plain text.
If you are using a single-density disk, I think the amount you can store on that is cut in half to 720,000 bytes, which would limit the amount of pictures to be stored on the disk (Aaron, Shakey, feel free to verify my math, etc. as it's been awhile on these measurements ;) ).
You're busy these days, huh, TC. :) Here goes...
1 KB = 1,024 bytes
1 MB = 1,024 KB
1 GB = 1,024 MB
A High-density 3½-inch disk can store 1.44MB (I actually think you can only get about 1.38 MB's onto a disk though).
One thing to look at, TC, is the file type of the pictures. A .bmp takes up more space than a .jpg. So, if these pictures are in .bmp format, converting them to .jpg will allow you to get more pictures onto one floppy.
This will help alot! THANKS so much David and Shakey! :)

HUH? How do you do that? OH...floppy diScs...
nevermind :D :D :D
This thread reminds me of something I saw in MAD magazine (I think it was MAD) YEARS ago. They were basically using computer terms and used some kind of furry animal in the cartoons.
The upgrading memory showed a picture of someone putting a graduation cap on the animal.
A cartoon called swapping 32 (or whatever it was) bytes showed 2 animals biting each other.
I can't remember any others... been too long. But it was pretty funny to see how literally someone put it.
