Okay, I havce the digital cable. So, if there is something on like channell 200 how do I tape it, when my VCR only goes up to 117? Any help? Would using the RCA jacks from the TV to the VCR work? If so, do I need to disconnect the Cable from the VCR (its only hooked up for picture in picture reasons. ANy advice would be great!

I too have digital cable, and this problem is one of the drawbacks of having a cable box vs cable ready. There are two ways to do it that I know of.
#1. Run the cable box thru an input on our VCR, set the box to the channel you want to record and set the VCR to that input (e.g. "Video 1"). Most digital boxes will allow you to set a time & channel to record. So if you aren't going to be home when it happens, you can set the timer on the box AND the VCR. The drawback is that if you are at home, you'll have to watch what your recording (Since the VCR is recording whatever is coming out of the box, not a specific channel)
#2. If it is a channel you would get without a box, you can put a splitter on your cable coming from the wall jack. Run one cable from the splitter to your VCR and the other cable from the splitter to the cable box. This will allow you to watch one thing & record another, but you'll have to check to see if the cable-ready channel numbers are different than they are on the box. Again, if this channel is on a premium or digital tier, this is not an option. You also could look into getting a second digital box (don't laugh) I have 2 and I only pay a few more $ a month for the 2nd one.
Let me know if that helps, or even made any sense. :D
EDIT: After reading your question again, it appears that you already have a splitter. If that's not working in this case, #1 is the only option I know of, outside of getting a 2nd box just for recording. BTW, isn't picture-in-picture cool?! :thumb: I love it during football season.

Get a a digital recorder, like TiVo :D
Okay, I am confused. 15 years without a cable box, and I gotta have one now so I can get digital, and cable modem. Life was so much easier just running it through the VCR!
