Again, surprised that an Alabama tune didn't rank higher! :)

I still have trouble grasping why anyone likes Hank Jr., but to each his own, I guess.

I would have thought Alabama or The Judds would have taken the top spot, but I'm sure there's some way of ranking these groups that I would never understand...

I have trouble grasping the same concept, Val! I never could stand his music at all!!!

I love Bocephus  Alabama had many #1's in the 80's, however, most of them only stayed at the top for one week. The system these songs run on is determined by # of weeks a song is at it's peak position.

I dislike Hank Jr., DJ, because I think he should have been a rap singer or something. He HAS to mention his own name in almost every song you hear on the radio! UGH!! And, sorry, but I don't like his voice, either.

If you like him, that's great! (Someone had to because he still sold records  ...ahem...sorry) He's just not my cup of tea, personally. ;)

Julio Iglesias and Willie Nelson's "To All The Girls I've Loved Before" is one of a few country songs I'd heard on AT40 Flashback.

I did hear this song in the '80s...but only on a country-music station.

And Willie Nelson's "Always On My Mind" is another country-music song I'd heard on AT40 Flashback recently.

2 of my all time fav. songs are on the list. I'll Leave This World Loving You" and "You Are Always On My Mind". Ricky Van Shelton has one of the greatest voices. I've always thought he was under-rated.

Wow. I totally expected to see Dolly's 9 To 5 on that list. Was it too pop for country radio at the time?

"9 to 5" went to #1 in 1981 on the country charts but like most af Alabama's music it only stayed there for one week. Song #25 on this list, Kenny Roger's "I don't need you", was at #1 for 2 weeks. This list is comprised by:
1 higest chart position
2 weeks at peak position
3 weeks top 10
4 weeks top 40
5 weeks Hot 100

"Coward of the county" was #1 for 3 weeks, in contrast to the #1 song of the 80's on the pop charts, "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John, which was #1 for 10 weeks.

Wow! Dolly Parton's "9 To 5" was more popular on the pop charts than on the country charts?

Yay for The Judds and Kathy Mattea. "Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses" is one of my favorite songs of hers, but my most favorite is "Where've You Been?", which I'm sure that 80sTrivia will agree with.
