I will be the first to admit, I don't like the Judds but I can't deny their place in 80's country. This mother, daughter duo dominated the country charts between 1984-1991 including an amazing string of 18 top 10 hits including 14 #1 singles. They also dominated the CMA's winning the Horizon award in 1984, winning best Vocal group from 1985-1987 and winning best Duo from 1988-1991 (when Brooks and Dunn finally beat them in 1992). Their #1 Country song from 1984 "Why not me" won the CMA for single of the year. I don't care for them personally, but I got a lot of respect for them. What are your thoughts?
There are a lot of tunes I loved by The Judds....and some Judd Duds, as well.
What I found curious: If the mother had so much talent, why did she never do any solos? It was always Wynona singing. Seemed to me we didn't need Naomi, we just needed some back-up singers.
Anyway....my favorite Judds tune was actually Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days).
The song I least appreciated was Love Can Build A Bridge. Talk about pure cheddar!! It just screamed, "Please, give us another award!!"
Did anyone see the movie about them? I caught a glimps of it about a year ago it was very interesting.
I personally didn't like their music mainly because it to much "Southern Draul (sp)". I know that is silly but i just couldn't stand listening to them sing.

I've always thought the same thing about Naomi, Val. Wy possessed all of the singing talent. You could barely hear Naomi singing softly in the background! :)

My most favorite Judds song was always "Love Is Alive". I just love the accoustics (sp?) in it, plus the video for it is beautiful.
