My boyfriend and I will be in the Seaside Heights are of NJ between 7/27/02 and 8/2/02. Can anyone tell me if there are any good clubs to go to within, say, an hour of Seaside Heights? We love metal music and any 80s music. Thanks! :D

Okay here's what my sister says:

Seaside? Why is she going there...........to see the MTV beach house???? Because Pt. Pleasant or Belmar is alot nicer. Anyway, if she must go to Seaside there are a couple of clubs there................Temptations, the Bamboo Bar, Club XS, The Beach Club and Joey Harrison's Surf Club www.joeyharrisonssurfclub.com < that's in Ortley Beach which is right next store to Seaside. She can visit the Seaside Hts webpage : www.seasideheights.net

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks Bambi

Actually, we made plans to go to Seaside months ago, before MTV announced they would be there. We have reservations we cannot change. If we had known MTV would be there, believe me, we would have gone to Point Pleasant or anywhere else!!!!!!!

We are not from the area and know nothing of what area is better than another. Seaside looked fun when we were researching, so we decided to go there. Hindsight is 20/20, ya know? Please tell your sister we are not some MTV-type idiots. In fact, that's why I am desperately searching for a "cool" place to hang while we're there. To avoid the kiddies!

(Before anyone takes offense, please note that I am only referring to the types of kiddies that scream on TRL!) :D

Hey Samboragirl, I don't know of any place nears Seaside Heights, but I wanted to ask if you know of any good 80s/metal clubs in the city? Do you go to Manhattan often?

I was going to go to Seaside this summer, but I'm trying to avoid the TRL crowd as well, which isn't easy seeing as how I live in NY lol. Many times I"ve had to walk through them in Times Square.

I wanted to ask also, how many times you've seen Bon Jovi and/or Richie in concert? I'm assuming you have. I saw them at Meadowlands Arena a few years back which was SO awesome to see them in Jersey! I also saw them at Jones Beach 2 years ago. They rocked!!

Hi Diane!

I go to Manhatten once a year or so, but just for day trips, usually. I also try to get to a Yankee game as often as I can! Actually, I am from a town in central upstate NY, so I don't know a lot about metal clubs in the city. I can tell you I just saw on Pollstar that Def Leppard is playing Irving Plaza soon. I think Hammerstein Ballroom is good? I have only ever been to one club in NYC, and it was a hole in the wall called The Spiral - down near Greenwich Village, it's on Houston St. A local band that I'm friends with played there twice about 5-6 years ago. I think you should have no trouble finding some good rock clubs there, just do some digging online and with local papers! Also, Taz or Pagan might know better than I because they are from downstate somewhere - you might try asking them!

I have had the unfortunate experience of trying to walk through Times Square while TRL was on as well! And Jesse Camp was outside at the time, being hounded. It was totally funny, but the crowd was ridiculous!

As for Bon Jovi - I've seen them three times - once on the New Jersey tour at The Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY in March 1989 or so with Skid Row(changed my life!), twice on the last tour, once in Wilkes-Barre, PA and once in Albany, NY. Fantastic shows! I, unfortunately, never got to see Richie's solo tour :( I think I was in college then. I would love to see them in Jersey someday! :D

Feel free to e-mail me so we can talk more. Of course, I won't be around next week, though! :D

Well have a great time Kelly!! Let us know how your trip was.

I may be going to a club this Friday on Houstan Street, called club NV. It's not exactly my type of music but it's a birthday party so I gotta go. I have been wanting to go to Culture Club, I hear it's the coolest 80s club in the city!

I loved both Bon Jovi shows I went to, they kicked ass. It was probably one of the best shows ever....well after Cher's farewell tour :)

I'm back!
How was the club, Diane? Hope you had fun!

We didn't end up going out much. We saw The Who in Hershey, PA Monday night. AMAZING show, though it was about 100 degrees out (and I'm not exaggerating!)!

We did find a club about 1.5 hours away in Wildwood, called The Beach Club - or something like that, and we saw VANILLA ICE! Ok, so Ice was 1990 - but it's close to 80s! :D He's a pretty heavy rap-rock artist now, but we had a blast and I got a few pictures, none of which turned out too great. Didn't get to meet him, either. :( That would have been too fun. Oh well.

We had a great time, thanks again to everyone who tried to help!

Hey girl!

Glad to hear you had such a great time! Actually I didn't end up going to the club after all, I went to see Goldmember with some friends instead LOL. But it's all good, I had a good time anyway.

Wow Vanilla Ice! That's freaky indeed. Yeah it's been SO friggen hot in the New York area lately, I can't stand it! I am waiting patiently for fall to arrive.

glad you're back!
