Most well known for the 1979 hit "The devil went down to Georgia", this group produced some great 80's country as well. including, "Still in Saigon", "Drinking my baby goodbye", "The legend of Wooley Swamp" and "In America". They were one of the bands that crossed musical genres, charting very high on the pop, album rock and country charts. The thing I liked best about their crossover status is that they charted on three charts with the same version of the song, they didn't have to make three versions. I have seen them live a couple of times and Charlie still has an energy that is unbelievable!! Your turn...tell me your thoughts.

I like Charlie Daniels. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting on a package to arrive that is 4 of his cassettes.
Charlie Daniels Band is great! I've watched his performances at Jamboree In The Hills on T.V. (thanx to our local news station having television rights for most acts) for the last couple of years...he does have a lot of energy! :)
Another song that was probably more popular in the southern states than the northern ones was 'The South's Gonna Do It'. My husband likes the tune 'Uneasy Rider', among others.
Of course, my favorites would be D.W.D.T.G. and Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye. :D So, pour me anotha one, I'm finished with tha other one, I'm drinkin' my baby goodbye.....;)

Yup, Charlie Daniels really rocks for a country guy. "In America" is seriously underrated. I love "The Devil Went Down to Georgia".
The only song I remember them singing was "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". I just heard that song on the radio the other day and I knew every word  Spooky.
