Well, the last show of Family Ties, 1 or 2 episodes of Highway to Heaven made me cry.

Archie Bunker 8-14-00, 08:05 PM I haven't seen the last episode of Family Ties yet, but it's my favorite show of the 80's, so I'm sure I'll see it sooner or later. Well, this wasn't from the 80's, but I cried over the Simpsons episode where Lisa is going to get married in the future.

ReagansRenegade 8-22-00, 10:24 PM I cried when J.R. survived. Lol sorry. Hmmmmm....
I know i have but i think it was from movies- like say FLASHDANCE! Or the ones where the guy doesnt get the girl, like in that french movie where the girl worked at a hotel and i saw more then boobies! Let me tell ya. Very pretty actress.

"It is the end of the beginning"- President R.R.
Sunshine 8-08-01, 02:47 AM My episode was of Punky Brewster when Brandon runs away because Henry is mad at him and then he gets hit by a car. Punky is crying, saying please wake up, please. That one got me every time!!
torque91 8-08-01, 03:12 AM How about a made-for-TV movie? The Mickey Rooney movie "Bill" tugged at my young heartstrings. Anyone remember this one? Mickey Rooney played a mentally challenged man taken in by a documentary film maker played by Dennis Quade.
80sTrivia 8-08-01, 08:01 AM I would say that the final episode of the Golden Girls made me shed a tear or two, as Dorothy was leaving and saying goodbye to Rose, Blanche and her mother Sophia. I think that the hallmark of a truly excellent show is one that can make you laugh your head off one minute and have you in tears the next, and few shows did this better than the Golden Girls. I imagine I cried every week while watching Little House on the Prairie; there was always some catastrophe going on for Half Pint to contend with (a blizzard, a fire, a cholera outbreak)! Also, the final episode of M*A*S*H was very sentimental. And the episode of Roseanne, when her father dies and she confronts him as he lay in the coffin about how he had sexually and physically abused her and her sister, Jackie, when they were younger. That was truly excellent...

Dancingdoll1986 8-08-01, 04:46 PM The one episode that really made me cry was an episode of Growing Pains. When Carol was dating that one guy who was played by Matthew Perry. He had dropped her off after a date, and was in a really bad car accident on the way home. Carol went to visit him, and when she got home, her parents told her that he had died. That was rough, b/c it showed that teenagers weren't as invincible as we thought we were.
I never drank and drove because of that.

Mine had to be the episode of Newhart when Stephanie had her baby. All throughout the episode, Stephanie and Michael were like acting so selfish, but when the time finally came, their whole attitudes just changed, and it was a real tear jerker to see them care so much for eachother and the baby. And then they interveiwed a whole bunch of people from different shows like Angela Lansbury who said they all thought Michael and Stephanie would make wonderful parents. It was cool.

Nikki_91 8-08-01, 11:52 PM I'd have to say that "Growing Pains" episode when Sandy (Carol's Boyfriend) died. I still can't watch that episode without shedding a tear. Tracey Gold should have won an Emmy for that episode.
I know there was an episode on "Family Ties" when Alex's best friend dies in a car accident. That was really sad.
Definitely Family Ties final episode and the MASH farewell. Also...the episode of Little House when the boy they adopted gets addicted to Morphine..anyone remember that one?? Lots of Little House episodes made me shed tears...
I agree about the GP episode when Sandy dies...very heartwrenching...don't drink and drive people!!!
80s TV was very entertaining, that's for sure.
michaellover 8-13-01, 04:32 PM #1. I would have to agree with the last episode of "The Golden Girls". I get chocked up everytime I see that one.
#2. The "Challenger" episode of Punky Brewster when the Shuttle blew up.
#3. Remember the episode of "Diff'rent Strokes" where that guy tires to rape Kimberly?
Those are the only ones I can think of for now.
I never saw that episode of Family Ties where Alex's friend dies, but I always hear everyone talk about how sad it was.
Hbrad1977 8-13-01, 08:04 PM An episode that made me cry was on "Family Ties" when Alex and Ellen dance to that song "At this moment". It makes me even more sad no, because of Michael J. Fox's health condition now. and
The episode of "Different Strokes" when Sam gets kidnapped.
Lots of Little House episodes and the MASH farwell episode (i think i've seen it a dozen times).
Other than that, i didn't watch a lot of TV...we only had 1 tv, and me being the youngest, never got to pick what to watch, so i spent a lot of time playing with my legos.
djdaffy1227 8-13-01, 10:00 PM Many many episodes of the Wonder Years make me cry! I love that show!
Nikki_91 8-14-01, 12:54 AM I totally agree with you on that one..I just saw one that made me cry a few days ago. Is it just me, or did you get totally pissed off at Winnie for always breaking Kevin's heart. All those episodes made me cry!
I don't cry ;) , but if I was going to it would have been the episode of "Hill Street Blue's" where Officer Joe Coffey (Ed Marinaro) got killed. He was a cool character. :(
Well, I feel a lot better now. I now know I'm not the only person who cries watching TV! :D
They have repeats of Family Ties on too and I haven't been watching them...I think I may have to again and to cry on the last episode, yet again! :) http://www.plauder-smilies.de/cry.gif

That's sooo funny! My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts because I always say, when I'm watching the show, that Winnie Cooper is a bitch! I do not like her!
I cry every time I see an episode of THE NANNY. Fran Drescher just annoys me to tears.
But for real, the few episodes that made me cry were:
The aforementioned family ties and growing pains episodes.
The last WONDER YEARS where Kevin talks about how his dad died, and how everybody turned out.
The episode of MASH where Henry Blake dies.
WHen Edith got raped on ALL IN THE FAMILY
WHen Edit Died on ALL IN THE FAMILY
WHen Amber got eliminated on survivor this year (she was so HOT) J/K
Final episode of Cheers.
Steve Austin fights big foot (2 parter, at the end of the first part, I was so scared for the 6million dollar man!)
Man I am a big WUSSY!
:D
I also forgot about the WWFs tribute show to Owen Hart the day after he passed away. I was actually at the arena, and we were all crying, and when I got home and watched the tape it made me cry all over again. Very sad seeing these huge men cry in grief over the loss of a beloved co worker.

I didn't know her character died? How sad :(
No you are not a wussy, just a caring, thoughtful and sensitive guy :p (am I being sarcastic???) ;)
The one episode of television that made me cry (bawl my eyes out actually), and to this day I can't watch it when the reruns come on, was the episode of "All In The Family" when Edith dies. Throughout the episode, Archie is very stone faced. Then, after the funeral, he's home for the first time alone. He goes to get into bed and feels something by his foot. He reaches down and comes up with Edith's slipper, then finally breaks down while clutching it to him.
Geez...I got misty just typing this....

I got misty just reading it. Hope none of my co-workers saw me.

outofplacechild 8-24-01, 01:18 PM If it has the song "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, it makes me cry automatically.
Also, several episodes of "Saturday Night Live" make me cry. To wit:
-The 1991 Steve Martin episode where the entire cast performed their version of "Tonight" from "West Side Story". Phil Hartman and Chris Farley's verses make me sad, especially when Chris sings "After the show, I'll drink 'til I spew". Little did we know that the drugging and boozing would catch up to hom in 1997.
-Phil Hartman's final episode as a host in 1996 (In the opening monologue, he was having an identity crisis, because he was never himself. To quote the song referenced above, he sang "I always wear these wigs and this makeup".) After being encouraged back to the stage, he triumphantly yells out "I AM PHIL HARTMAN!". 5 years ago, it was a joke. 5 years later, it's quite poignant. Besides that, seeing him perform Frank Sinatra, Frankenstein, and Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer for the last time is funny in the sketches, but sad, knowing that 2 years later, he'd be murdered by his wife.
-The SNL 25th Anniversary Special had plenty of tears to go along with the laughs.
-Tim Meadows introducing a Chris Farley tribute special.
-Phil's final episode as a castmember. He sang a goodbye song while hugging Chris Farley, who was in his "Matt Foley: Motivational Speaker" outfit. As the song ended, a spotlight shined on the 2 of them, sitting on an empty stage.
Who would've thought that the premeir sketch comedy show of the 20th century would have so many sad moments?
Sincerely,
John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

I forgot about that one!! I remember that clearly..*I have chills now* I wasn't that old, but I remember looking over at my dad and seeing him crying, too!!!
Not a TV show, and not even '80s ;) but the movie Two Days in the Valley (Or something like that). There's a guy who's going to shoot himself, and he's got this pet dog that's sitting there next to him making all these pathetic little noises, basically trying to talk him out of it, and then he keeps putting off killing himself so he can explain to his dog that everything will be okay, he'll find a new home...
It was so sad!
I bawled my eyes out when Matthew Perry died on Growing Pains. i was thinking family ties and death but I can't remember who died. Alex was devastated it was either his best friend or an uncle. Does anyone remember this.
The last episode of Cheers made me cry because I absolutely loved that show and didn't want it to ever end.
With Magnum PI I was so mad that they killed him I kept waiting for them to reveal that it was just a dream sequence. I loved Tom Selleck.
Okay and I'll admit I cried like a baby when Bo & Hope finally got married the first time LOL
M*A*S*H is the show that has made me cry the most. I cried at the last show, but the episode where Henry Blake dies gets me every time I see it. I watched reruns of it a lot in the '80s, and it got so that whenever that episode aired, I'd have to turn off the TV before Radar walked into the O.R.--but I'd still ended up bawling anyway because I knew it was coming. :(
That 80z Girl 2-23-02, 09:25 PM I think the episode of any show that made me cry the most was the ER episode titled "Loves Labor Lost". It's the one where the woman died giving birth. Dr. Greene was the doctor who delivered the baby.
I also cried during the final M*A*S*H episode along w/ the one where Henry Blake died.
The All in the family episode when Edith died.
Also, the Little house on the Prarie episode(s) where Olivia Barasch guest starred and was raped and murdered. That was a harsh episode. I think I was only 11 when that one aired. I'm still disturbed by that one to this day.

Yeah that was a hard one to watch, especially all those tough guys like HHH trying to hold back tears.
I'll have to go with the final episode of MASH. I've seen this several times and it always brings tears, especially the farewells at the end. And even more so in the final moments where Hawkeye rises up in the chopper and looks down to see BJ's Goodbye message made in rocks.
