View Full Version : Happy Birthday America
: Sorry for the early jump on this but I am sure some of you are already making plans.
Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings.
*What are your plans for this wonderful day? :flag:
Since some of us will be grilling out why don't you share your favorite Barbecue Receipes
Caligula 7-01-02, 11:27 AM Happy Birthday America and have a safe and fun July 4th:cheers:
I'll be at a big ol' BBQ at my singer's house while my poor wife has to work. :(

Hope all you guys have a good one!!!!!
Dont forget that July 14th is Bastille Day! For all our French contingent Have a good day!
My whole family is going to get together and barbecue on top of a mountain so we can almost touch the fireworks.
It will be a touching time since my brother is going to Korea on the 14th and will be gone for almost 2 years  So this 4th of July will be very hard for all of us.
I will make my famous corn on the cob :licky:
I soak the corn in butter and dip it in brown sugar and cook it on the grill :licky: Very tasty!!

80sTrivia 7-01-02, 01:51 PM Plan on having a nice day with my friends and family. I wanted to spend the holiday at home as I'm leaving for Mexico on the 6th! Happy B-Day, America. And everyone please be safe and mindful of the latest terrorist warnings!!! Enjoy!!! :thumb:

I need to start decorating my kids bikes. Every 4th of July, all the kids in the neighborhood have patriotic parade followed by BBQ in our neighbors back yard. Since my kids are still little, we just walk down the churchyard and watch the fireworks from there (about two miles from where they are being sent up).I just hope some moron doesn't set fire to the mountains with their fireworks. Conditions are very dry out west.
BTW, I'll have to try that corn Milani, sounds great.
I'm not sure what we will be doing this year. If we were still in Louisiana, we would be spending the day at the lake with friends. We know VERY few people here in WV, so don't have any plans yet. We probably will be spending the day at home. Our household goods arrive tomorrow. YAY!!!
Everyone have a safe and happy holiday.
Happy Birthday United States of America!!!
DC Rebel 7-01-02, 02:22 PM Well, I have to work on the fourth, but I will probably go to my father's house afterwards. After that, I will more than likely drink the night away.
ImSoooSure 7-01-02, 02:35 PM We live on a big hill and can see about 3 different firework shows from our house. We'll be kickin' it up there and prob. cook out too. It's very dry where we live in the mountains too and we are always fearful of fires. Hopefully everything will go well.:)
I don't really have any plans this year. Just a nice relaxing day. Did the big family bbq yesterday since relatives were up from cali. :) I'll probably end up watching the fireworks on tv. lol
We're going to visit my family. I can't wait to see my nephews. (one is two years old, and the other one is three months) I'm tempted to attach their picture but that would be just over-the-top aunt-ness.
Have a happy & safe weekend, everyone! I won't be around much from Tuesday 'til next Monday.
Happy Birthday USA!
Seeing as we don't celebrate Independence Day, I'll be working late that night.
helloman 7-01-02, 06:42 PM Happy birthday! Friendship!
Iluvthe80s 7-01-02, 07:13 PM I am going to Freedomfest here in Austin. Tesla, Jackyl, Vince Neil, and Skid Row will be playing. There will also be food, arts and crafts, etc., and a fireworks show at night. I'm really excited about this.
Sounds like a blast Stacy!!! We want to hear all about it. :)
Wel, I get to work for about 50 hours this week. We have a huge three day concert series right down in the section of town where the bar I work at is, and then the weekend we have Fair St Louis. A huge fair down by the Arch. So, I will be too busy to have a nice holiday. But to all others, HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
I don't have anything planned. I was asked a week ago if I wanted the day off, but since most customers will probably think we are closed, that means I get to use the internet connection all day, get paid, and do virtually nothing (so basically, it will be just like any other day!)...
I'm not real big into the 4th. Not that I'm not happy we live in a free country, but its like easter, valentines day, thanksgiving, and so forth. It's nice and all, but just another day to me.
I'll work half a day and we might have a BBQ. Who knows... not even thinking about it yet. I don't watch fireworks (they aren't THAT exciting to me) and I haven't bought them since the 80's.
As long as I have a few pints of my McMenamins Ruby ale, I'll be set for the night.
But for those of you who have big plans (bbq, family gathering, fireworks, etc), I wish you all the best!

Holy crap!! That sounds SOOOOOO yummy!!! :biglick:
I want some!!!
You'll have to make it for me, Milani... I'm on my way! Kentucky is only about 5 to 6 hours away!!! :thumb:
Actually, I'm leaving tomorrow for Indiana to visit with my parents, I see them just about twice a year, Christmas and the Fourth! We always have a big BBQ... but never do we have Milani's corn! I may have to try that this time!
We always have bratwursts soaked in beer and then grilled, :biglick: and plenty of beer for the drinking!
I'll be back on Sunday night sometime so you'll notice a lack of posting from me!
I hope everyone has a great holiday!
Det.RicardoTubbs 7-03-02, 08:01 AM I'll be enjoying my new pad with friends overlooking the Fair St.Louis fireworks. :) :) :) BBQ, Beer, and Buddies!!!! (some Broads too I guess)
Everyone better have a safe, enjoyable, happy, and filling 4th of July!!! Even if you don't celebrate, have a great day too!!!!

Glenn Gulia 7-03-02, 05:05 PM Going to a buddy of mines he throws a party ever 4th.Couple of bushels of crabs,a keg or two.:drunk:
LOSTNTHE80S 7-03-02, 05:21 PM Our annual 4th of July party of course. Hamburgers, hot dogs, pork steaks..and a big table full of desserts and side dishes. I;m making my famous chili cheese dip. Going to have the blenders going, and tunes playing. Ice cold beers. Set up the volleyball net. Toss the frisbee around. Maybe a little game of softball. Of course the swimming pool will be open. Then we'll sit around and maybe do some safe fireworks with the kids (sparklers, etc...) How many people will be here? Probably around 30 or so.
Wish ya'll could join us (we have the room) and Livesay could provide the live entertainment!
Have a safe holiday all! Isnt' this country great? We love her and she still stands strong!
JASPER & TUBBS...my brother is going to be at Fair St. Louis too. He's going to the George Thourogood concert on Sat. I would like to see Smokey Robinson and Kool & the gang. Lee Greenwood is also going to be there..how appropriate!
Happy 4th of July everybody! :flag:
Got the parade in the morning. My mom is going to be in it this year, driving some politician or war veteran in the back of her new convertible.:) Then probably hang out and maybe hit the pool in the afternoon, with a BBQ for dinner. Then we'll figure out somewhere to go to watch the fireworks. They got rained out last year and it's possible they might again tomorrow. It doesn't rain all summer and has to pick the 4th of July to rain.
It won't be as fun as usual 'tho because my fun sister and her family went away camping this week.:( I miss her.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, AMERICA!
:flag:
outofplacechild 7-04-02, 09:34 AM I'll be spending my Independence Day doing what I usually do...pushing carts at Wal-Mart. Not that I mind that, but with my shoddy luck, I'll be the only one pushing carts today.
Don't I feel special?
Sincerely,
John "outofplacechild" Kilduff
2 upsides, though: MONEY and MUSCLE!
helloman 7-04-02, 05:10 PM Don`t mind, outofplacechild.
I would do the same if my spinal could do it,
and the other things standing in my way.
outofplacechild 7-04-02, 10:11 PM Well, I was right...'twas me, myself and I doing carts all day in scorching heat.
Well, either way...
God Bless America, and God Bless California...my prayers are with you!
Sincerely,
John "outofplacechild" Kilduff
Happy Birthday to all our American friends. What a perfect day here - I hope you had the same blue sky as I did.
Milani I am going to have to try your corn - its sounds addicting :)
