Most known for his hit "The Show" Doug E Fresh had a good run on the R&B charts through the mid to late 80's. There were two notable answer songs to "The Show" (Having answer songs in 80's rap was the sign of a bonified rap hit) one called "No show" by the Symbolic Three and one by a group known as Super Nature called "The showstopper (is stupid Fresh)". Super Nature later changed their name to Salt 'N' Pepa. Slick Rick got his start with Doug E Fresh as MC Ricky D. (Slick Rick in the mid 80's was a name of one of the members of Rockmaster Scott and the Dynamic Three, but that's a different thread  ) Slick Rick can be heard rapping the whole song "La Di Da Di" which was later redone by Snoop Doggy Dogg and sampled in numerous other rap hits. The line "Tick tock you don't stop" heard throughout Color Me Badd's "I wanna sex you up" is from the song "La Di Da Di". Some of his other R&B hits included "all the way to heaven" and "Lovin' every minute of it" To say Doug E Fresh was an influence on today's artists is an understatement. Did you like him?
