This modern jazz great got his start in San Francisco playing with George Duke. His first R&B hit came in 1976, not breaking into the pop scene until 1981. He did many wonderful songs including "We're in this love together", "After all" and "Moonlighting (theme)" but my personal favorite was the #6 R&B hit and #21 pop hit "Mornin'" I have had his greatest hits for awhile now but recently got his album "Breakin' away" on CD at a used store. It had a couple of songs that were on my want list. I also have the 45 for his version of Nat "King" Cole's "The Christmas song" which is one of the best versions of that classic ever, IMO. I think he was underrated in the 80's, how do you feel?

You're too quick for DJ, I really enjoy Al Jarreau. My favorite is probably Mornin' as well. I notice that that was credited to just Jarreau. Do you happen to know why? Also, you are correct on the Christmas Song, great cover.

Yeah, Al is awesome. My fav is Teach Me Tonight, although After All is great too.

Yeah I'm a big fan of morning. It's a really laid back groove which is prefect for unwinding to!

Amen to that Prefab! As for Greenway's question, I noticed that too but have no idea. I would assume it was some assclown at the record company thinking it would be good publicity if he dropped the Al, but I really don't know.

I really like Al Jarreau's music. "We're In This Love Together" is one of my favorites. :) I really like the funky brass and beat of "Boogie Down" too.

I heard Boogie Down today. Really cool song. I had forgotten, but our marching band did Boogie Down one year. It was fun.
