Before anyone says "Rap won't have a Hall of Fame because it SUCKS!". Just let me say this is for RAP FANS!!!!

Now, on with the topic...

If there was a rap Hall of fame, who would think should be inducted IN THE FIRST YEAR. I will start with my picks.

Your list hits most of them, but I would add Will Smith, Salt 'N' Pepa, and Arrested Development.

I notice no one has mentioned Vanilla Ice, Hammer or the Beastie Boys. The only one I like of these is Hammer, but these were some of the highest profile rappers of the early 90's. Would they belong in a rap Hall of Fame?

I dont think Vanilla Ice would make it Greenway although the Beasties output was much more critically acclaimed as was Hammers. I' d go with those two!

I was only talking about the first year. There are many more I would have put in, in other years. Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force is one I forgot to mention as well. I certainly wouldn't put Vanilla Ice in, however, although I'm not a fan, Hammer would indeed belong in the fourth or fifth year. Beastie Boys are tough to call, I still consider them more rock and alternative than anything, sort of a precursor to Limp Bizkit and Korn.

I kind of thought Vanilla Ice was a bad joke, but he did have the first rap song that went to #1 on Billboard's pop charts. I have no problem shutting him out of the Rap Hall of Fame.
