Does anybody else have hayfever or any summer related allergies? Pollen and dust are murder on me during the summer.

I don't know whats up with this summer, but for the past several years (5 years or more), I only have to drug up for a few weeks and my allergies don't bother me. I continue to drug up just so I will be fine, but after 2 weeks, they are mostly gone. For some reason, this summer is really bad for me. To make matters worse, my home and truck don't have A/C, only where I work. A/C is a god send for allergies.

The problem I have is most allergy medicine I can find states "may cause drowsiness", which effectively means "will knock your ass out". I have a hell of a time finding the non-drowsy formula.

I took chlor-trimeton for years, but I don't anymore since most of the generics have the same drugs in them.

Does anybody else have summer related allergies? Itchy eyes and throat, runny nose, sneezing, the works?

How do you combat your allergies? What do you take?

Pollen and dust are a pain for me as well. It really affects my asthma. Luckily, I have my Albuterol Inhaler and Flovent Inhaler. I also take Claritin D12 as well for it. My doctor also prescribed Prednisone for me. I really have to watch it because I already have scar tissue starting to form in my right lung.

I take Zyrtec and Rhinocort for my allergies. Still have to use regular sinus meds some days for the headaches though. Hate allergies!!!!!!

I had allergies pretty bad for years. After I stopped drinking soft drinks they pretty much went away. I don't really know if that has anything to do with it or not. My Dr. says it prob. does.
I still get allergies every now and then. Mainly when mold is high. When I get them I take Bee Pollen in the granual form. Tastes pretty good actually. There is also something called Allercalm you can take with the bee pollen. You can usually get them at vitamin stores. They don't make you tired and they kick butt. The only thing you need to do is drink tons of water with them. It's a big pill.

I 've suffered from allergies since I was 15 *sigh* Cats, dogs, birch, grass, dustmites....whatever!! Last year it started to turn around....I can now get close to dogs and don't suffer quite as much during the birch season...who knows why? Anyway - I take Benadryl and they are really better - I used to take Clarityn but they were not so good for me - plus they've recently been critisised (can't remember for what though  )

Well Kayenne, I have taken Benadryl as well. I like Benadryl because I do not need a note from my doctor to get it. All of my other medications are prescription medications.

My box of generics meds ran out yesterday. Last time myself and the ball and chain were at Costco we bought a huge bottle of their allergy medicine. Works fine but it makes me feel light headed, can't talk to think straight, and have trouble walking. Great medication!

I ended up buying some rite aid maximum strength medication which was just a knock off on Benadryl. I took 2 pills and had problems breathing. I'm like ok, just a first time reaction. I took 2 more and had even more problems breathing. Ok that is obviously not the medication to take.

I don't know what else there is. I guess I will just keep throwing money into meds until something works.

Even being at the movies last night in an air conditioned environment didn't totally help.

Maybe rat poison is a cure all?
