Ok who out there ever watched The Young Ones? I own the whole series on video and watch them all the time. I never get sick of them as they are just so funny http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I love Rik Mayall, an absolute genius as well as Adrian Edmonson. Mike would have to be the most boring of the four. Not many people I know like Mike. Neil is just so sad you gotta feel sorry for him http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

I had completely forgot about this show. I used to watch it on mtv on sunday night. I taped most of them when they were on I still have the tapes somewhere. I thought Neil made the show he was just so laid back it was funny.

What was your favourite episode? Mine were Bambi and Sick. The first one I ever remember seeing when it first came on was Bambi when they were on University Challenge. I also loved the idea of the in-house band. Madness, Motorhead, Amazulu, 9 Below Zero, The Damned, Dexy's Midnight Runners. Cool! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I am not sure of the name of the show but it was where they found the bomb in their house, and Neil was planning to build a bomb shelter with the kitchen table and painting himself with white paint to deflect the blast. Vivian was trying to make the bomb explode by hitting it with a sledgehammer.........I thought I was going to piss my pants from laughing so hard. Another good one that comes to mind was when they went to the laundromat and Neil was chasing one of Vivian's socks around the house telling everyone not to move because one of his (Vivian's) socks has escaped......nothing like British humor.

I also liked the idea of having bands perform on the show.

Those 2 would be Bomb and Sick! I loved the part with Vyvyan's socks and his undies outside the laundromat http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif I have heaps of wav files form the show and all the scripts. I'm also a fan of Red Dwarf. Ever seen that show? Very funny, plus they have two blooper tapes of the show out as well. I'd love to see a blooper tape of the Young ones. I've seen one from Bottom. Seen that either? A bit more risque than The Young Ones were but still a riot.

Those were 2 shows that I initially could not get into. It took me a while to get British humor. Now I can't live without it. I need to look around for YO tapes. Is someone from YO on Black Adder? I love Red Dwarf!! Man, the Brits rule my late Sat and Sun nights.

You too Huh? I couldn't live without Brit comedy shows either. I'm still waiting for The Goodies to be replayed on tv over here. It's long overdue! They show Red Dwarf at least once a year over here, but they always miss out on Quarantine, Meltdown, and Holoship episodes. The only ones I haven't got! The two blooper tapes are absolute legendary. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif Haven't seen Black Adder for years either. I think Rik Mayall might have been on there a couple of times but I'm not sure.

Basically I could talk about Brit Comedy all day! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I love watching the British comedians when they come out for the Melbourne Comedy Festival, the Americans aren't as funny though! My fav comedian would have to be Billy Connelly http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Red Dwarf? The name sounds funny but no I haven't seen that show. Bloopers of the Young ones now that would be very funny. Do you know if it available in the States? I'll try to look around for it. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

I would have to say that my two faves were Flood and Murderess. Murderess featured the girl from AbFab. I remember Rick so vividly saying,"I am not a virgin!"

He was hysterical in Drop Dead Fred.

Which one was the one with Neil knocking on the door saying, "Open up, it's the pigs!" Was it Job or something like that?

That episode was Cash. Vyvyan was pregnant in that one, until he farted! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Drop Dead Fred, I love that movie, very funny http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Not Man...I don't think there are blooper tapes for Young Ones, the ones I have are for Red Dwarf.

Sheibub! Where did you get the videos? I have been looking everywhere for those! I LOVED the Young Ones. In 1986 the guys put together a joke band called "Bad News". They were the opening act at Donnington that year. Actually, I think they were second band on. I think Warlock opened. Or was it Motorhead. They were all there, and I do not remember the lineup. (Of course, I don't remember much of 1986...)Funny as hell. They spent the whole time on stage tripping over themselves and the cords. They had T-Shirts that read "I saw Bad News **** up at Donnington. 1986"

Raine...In Australia getting videos of Brit Comedy is very easy because it is so huuuuge here. But in the states it's not so popular but try on the net, you should be able to get them somewhere. I'd be very surprised if you can't.

I spent many a Sunday night watching them on MTV. Holiday was my favorite. Vyvyyn has those hoops in the bottom of his shorts.

The fights between Rik and Vyvyyn are the best.

Rik: My name is Rik
Vyvyyn: Spelled with a silent 'P.'

Weren't those fights between Rik and Vyvyan a classic? Poor Rik! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Rick: [stands up abruptly] Why don't you like me?
Vyvyan: Because you're a complete bastard.
Rick: Vyvyan, I'm being serious!
Vyvyan: So am I. You're a complete bastard and we all hate you.
Rick: [shaking his head] I find that rather difficult to believe.
