I posted the following in the News forum, but I thought it appropriate to post it here as not everyone visits that forum:

Dee Dee Ramone, one of the founding members of influential punk rock band The Ramones was found dead earlier today at his home in Los Angeles. This less than one year after the death of his fellow bandmate Joey. For the complete story, go here: Dee Dee Ramone Found Dead. (http://apnews1.iwon.com/article/20020606/D7JVRK9O1.html)

:( R.I.P. Dee Dee

Although I'm not a big Punk fan, it's sad to hear when a fellow musician/artist passes on.

Forget "Just Say No"...you wanna get a kid off drugs? Tell them about things like this.

God-and-gabba-speed to Dee Dee Ramone.

Drugs kill...don't do them.

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

Dee Dee Ramone was found dead on his couch by his wife. The cause is believed to be an accidental drug overdose. He was 49, and the founder of the Ramones who wrote most of their quirkier lyrics. Pretty much the brains behind the band, he will be sorely missed.

Geez....that's two down. They always come in threes...I wonder who's next.

I heard the news last night from a friend of mine,I just can't comprehend it.I never got to meet Dee Dee(as I did with Joey)but somehow I feel like I just lost a friend,I mean, the Ramones were the group that introduced me to the Punk world when I was a pre-teen(feels like forever ago)In essence,I grew up with the Ramones. The songs always had this thing about them that said it was OK to be the weird kid,it was ok to be different, and it didn't matter what the world thought of you. These are the lessons that got me through my younger years. This is so hard because Hero's are supposed to be invinceable, hero's are supposed to be immortal, hero's aren't supposed to die,but in the last year, two more have been taken away. It's strange,I remember when Kurt Cobain died and all those people gathered in Seattle and were crying and all that,I didn't get why, they didn't know him personally, why didn't they just get over it.I guess I owe all them a big apology, music becomes so personal to everyone,it marks periods of everyones life, and the people who make it become like family because their art effects people.
Alot of my heros have died, but Joey and now Dee Dee's death have brought me a greater sorrow because it's like a huge part of my youth has just disappeared,at least the music will always survive.Sorry if I sound like some blithering Idiot,I just had to vent!

FYI for those in L.A. and are interested...
Dee Dee was to have played a show at the Key Club on the 14th..this is now going to be a tribute show.
On the 15th, members of his band and other friends will be holding a memorial show at The Cat Club..all proceeds to be passed on to his family. ;)
