Nikki_91 4-26-00, 11:40 PM Oh, I used to love watching cartoons. Was a big Hanna Barbera fan!! My faves were:
Smurfs, Alvin and Chipmunks, Scooby Doo, Laugh-Olympics, Strawberry Shortcake, Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons on Saturday morning, Kid Video, etc.
Does anyone remember a cartoon called "The Schmoo"? I used to watch that one in England..it was a Hanna Barbera cartoon.
------------------
As you might now know, I have visited your site, Roemello! You haven't mentioned Alcmene in the list of Greek figures, you know, mother of Hercules? Just thought I'd mention it. Like I also said I absolutely loved the dragon on the front page, Cool! I also love fantasy stuff as well and Native American art. But back to the subject of cartoons:
Count Duckula and Fat Albert, I loved those too! In case you didn't see I have a Count Duckula stationery on my page http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif And Smurfs, yet to do Chipmunks.

Sal Collaziano 4-28-00, 10:23 AM "The Schmoo" sounds really familiar but I just don't remember it.. Was there a "Schmoo" in it? What did it look like? hehe Hmmm

Sal Collaziano
Roemello 4-28-00, 02:24 PM I didn't get Alcmene in my list? oops! Well, my site is always in constant construction and it's so damn big it's hard to keep track of everything. I'll add her in this weekend http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif (make that next week)
On the subject of "the shmoo", I remember that name from somewhere...I'll get back to this one later.

RetroMan 4-28-00, 10:33 PM My favorite was Astro Boy & I've been lucky enough to collect the entire series on video.
I just can't get over how the Japanese interpret things eg. Dr Elephant's nose actually physically sticking out of the monitor screen of the 'futuristic video phone' when he yelled at Astro?!?!? totaly bizarre!! and how some of the characters eyebrows are suspended above their heads!?! oh, and as for Astro being able to shoot a machine gun out of his bottom - well what's that all about! ha ha what a show! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Gunner Girl 5-01-00, 10:50 AM My fave cartoons of all-time are the Warner Bros. cartoons. Bugs, Daffy, Foghorn Leghorn, Sylvester & Tweety, Yosemite Sam, Elmer Fudd, they're all timeless.
One of my fave episode was the one where Bugs Bunny is in Dracula's
castle. "Abracadabra, I'm a bat". HA!HA!
------------------
Roemello 5-02-00, 02:54 AM I'd have to say my favorite cartoon of the 80's would have to have been He-Man. That was one of the few toons I wouldn't miss for anything back then. 2nd and 3rd place would probably go to Transformers and ThunderCats.

ironeagle1 11-15-01, 01:26 AM I think that the best two cartoons were Robotech and Transformers. You must throw in of course Voltron (both Lions and Vehicles) as one of the best.I also think that best cartoon series that lasted into the 1980s is The Battle of The Planets.
Which ones from the 80s you like?
ImSoooSure 11-15-01, 04:24 AM I don't know if these were specifically from the 80s or not but I loved watching them in the 80s. Woodywoodpecker (especially the Chilly Willy cartoons), Scooby Doo, The Smurfs and Looney Tunes Olympics.
I loved Battle of the Planets but I think that was more late 70s than 80s. :)
Smoo!
I LOOOOOOOVE Transformers!!!
I've also watched Voltron and--occasionally--Robotech.
:) ;) :) ;) :) ;) :) ;)
Scooby Doo, Looney Toons, Speed Buggy (which I forgot all about until TopCat mentioned it one day), and Smurfs. There were others, I'm sure.
80sTrivia 11-21-01, 05:07 PM I always liked the Superfriends hour, that may have been late 70s, but it certainly was on during the early 80s as well. My other faves were the Smurfs and the Snorks...
80sTrivia: Official Stalker of DD86 & jen* :D
The GOOD cartoons--Transformers, Voltron, GI Joe, Visionaries, GoBots, etc.--were shown in the '80s...and in syndication!
Iluvthe80s 11-22-01, 01:45 AM How about She-Ra, He-Man, and The Thundercats. Those are the ones my sis watched in the 80's. Mostly the cartoons I watched was in the 70's.
My sister was a total Strawberry Shortcake freak - I think I was a little too old for ths but I do remember them.
The best - Smurfs, Scooby Doo, Captain Cavemen, The Smoo, and tons I've forgotten about but if someone else mentions them you know I'm going to tell you LOL

Thundercats were the best!! I forgot about them. :)
Remember Gem and the Holigrams? That was a cool ass cartoon.
Ted Nugent 11-26-01, 07:49 PM I don't know if Ren & Stimpy was 80's or not, but it was my favorite. :)
That Guy Next Door 11-26-01, 09:10 PM Mysterious city 'o' gold, ulyse ? FRENCH !!!!
liked 'em but many people worship these two. Still miss the older anime with talking animals. Tom Sayer and the like. In France we have the " Generation albator " who's into this lighter hearted anime. Hanna Barbara ? how can ya not like it ? In France all the good shows were on channel 2 and in the early 80s, it was known as A2 with " recere A2 ". Nowadays, i dig Mike Jude's work, from Beavis and butthead to King'o'the hill. Just like shows with nice and/or dopey people. Can relate !
TGND " I heard something moving in the bush, gimme the creep. Let's get outta here, i wanna go ! AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH"
Sapphire112 11-29-01, 06:51 PM I loved He-Man, Transformers. The Lost Dogs ( I think this is what it was called) Rubix Cube, Pole Postion, Q-bert(was okay) Kidd Video, WildFire, The Get Along Gang, Spiderman, Spiderwoman,Voltron, G.I. Joe, Thunder Cats She-ra (all thought I didn't get to see these much. They didn't air them a lot where I lived, and all the others. :)
Sapphire112 11-29-01, 08:14 PM Also while we are on cartoons does anyone remember the nick cartoons. The Little Prince, Bell and Sabestian and City of Gold ..(I am not sure if this is the exact title or not) :)

 Brain...overwhelmed....too...many....memories! Oh wow! I loved Kidd Video and Spiderman, the Get Along Gang, Robotech, all that stuff. I'd forgotten some of those existed. Wasn't the DnD cartoon from the 80's too? I loved that show! I'd drag my sorry butt out of bed early to catch that one. Whew! Thanks for that flashback!
That Guy Next Door 12-05-01, 08:02 PM Well we also had " Jayce et les combattants de la lumiere " This show was about people fighting monstruous plants and vegetals ( some looked like giant roots )and flied in a ship reminscent of pirate ships. They had a little robot with some sorta long sword that looked like a miniature heroic fantasy armour and they had kickass vehicles.the bad guy always referred to some black moon.
If the show was also broadcasted in the US, could someone tell me what is was called ?
Trixter 12-05-01, 09:33 PM I watched:
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Transformers
Dungeons & Dragons
I thought the Smoo was great too, but I never got to see it much for some reason. It only lasted about a series or two didn't it?
My favourite was Fangface, the cartoon about a guy who whenever he sees the moon he turns into a werewolf and the sun turns him back to normal. Hilarious! Bit of a rip off of Scooby Doo though.
