ImSoooSure 5-27-02, 01:42 AM Willie Nelson. I know a lot of people don't like him but he is definately an country music man. I don't know which of these hits were from the 70s or 80s but I'm including as many of his hits as I can. Vote for your fav please!:)
I went with "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys." I like the original by Ed Bruce better. ;)
80sTrivia 5-27-02, 06:30 AM Had to vote for "other" in this poll. I really never could stand Willie's voice so the only song I could tolerate from him was his duet with Julio Iglesias, "To All The Girls I've Loved Before"!!!
I sort of like Willie Nelson. I always sing along to Georgia on my mind, so that got my vote.
djdaffy1227 5-27-02, 08:05 AM I love Willie!! All these songs are great, his version of the classic Roy Acuff song "Blue eyes crying in the rain" is my favorite from this list.
Iluvthe80s 5-27-02, 09:26 AM I voted for other: "Always On My Mind".
ImSoooSure 5-28-02, 01:09 AM Jeeze! I can't believe I forgot Always On My Mind. I actually have to vote other on my own poll! That is definately my favorite.
I voted for
Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys
Now I am going to be singing this all day
Prefab Sprouter 5-28-02, 09:07 AM Sing away! Milani!
Greenway88 5-28-02, 03:52 PM Blue Skies!
I actually can't tolerate him, either, Triv.... The songs are good, I just don't like his voice. He has a new one out with LeeAnn Womack, 'Mendocino County Line', and I think my ears will fall off if I have to hear it a third time.....
So, I had to go with 'Other', because as much as I don't like his singing, the song 'Seven Spanish Angels', done with Ray Charles, is a favorite of mine...

That one I did debate putting on here but didn't since it was a duet. Good pick though Val. That's a beautiful song!:)
Willie Nelson is a talented singer/songwriter, I voted for "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys"!! :thumb:

I'm with Scott on this one :D :thumb:
I'm with Triv on this one. I would go for "To all the girls I've loved before". Even though it wasn't a solo effort.
No doubt Nelson was a talented artist, but he still had a bloody awful singing voice!
angeleyes25 2-12-04, 01:34 AM On The Road Again

OrdnaryAvrageGuy 2-23-04, 11:51 PM While not a big Willie fan, I did gain a degree of respect for the man when he put on a 3 hr concert close to my hometown. Not a lot of artists will give you that much these days. BTW, my favorite if "Always On My Mind".

I can agree there! When he was here last summer, it was dang close to three hours or more! Everytime he would start to leave, someone would yell out a request and he would do it. He also "took his time"...chatted with us and acted like he was having fun too. That goes a long way !@
whistledog 10-23-04, 09:52 PM On the Road Again was my favourite Willie Nelson song
Ever heard the version by Wayne Rondstadt?
"On the road again" is about the only one i can recall and i really like it!
