One that TopCat didn't list that was my favorite cartoon tune was "The Littles". The opening tune was this really danceable New Wave/Synth Pop song, and I used to hop up and dance whenever the intro to the show was on!!! I also loved the theme song to "...the Great Space Coaster, yeah! yeah! yeah!, the Great Space Coaster"...

Weren't the Littles part of Electric Company? Or am I thinking of something else?

MDC, I still get that darned Littles theme song stuck in my poor head... but I loved it anyway. The Littles were a stand-alone cartoon on ABC-- they're on Toon Disney now, but I always forget to tape it. (on at the crack of dawn)

Toon Tracker (http://www.toontracker.com) has the best collection of toon theme songs I know of, now that Sound America is pretty much defunct. Ronn is such a great guy! (not just because he named me Site of the Month once )

My favorite 70s/80s toon themes:

Dungeons and Dragons
Wildfire (of course)
Hong Kong Phooey
Kidd Video
Jem
Snorks (mostly the first and second versions, the third one was lame)
Voltron "From days of long ago.... from uncharted regions of the galaxy..."
Star Blazers
The Banana Splits! (tra la la, la la la la)
Great Space Coaster
Barbapapa

I could go on... lol

OK...this wasn't an 80s toon, nor a 70s.....it started in the 60s. But who didn't like the Speed Racer song? GO Speed Racer, GO Speed Racer, GO Speed Racer GOOOOOOOOOO!

It finally came to me! (yes, i am always this slow!)
My favorite 80's cartoon theme was "Kidd Video". I was a little too old for cartoons when this came out, but I have to admit liking the theme song!

NBC's Kidd Video (I think it was aired five times every Saturday morning) was a cartoon? I thought it was a live-action show in which Michael J. Fox hosted music videos.

I'm gonna have to say that the theme from "Ducktales" ranked as one of my favorties. I used to walked all over campus whistling that tune.

Definitely a cartoon! It had a live-action component to the theme song animation, and it included "music video" segments made for the show. Great website at www.kvflipside.org (http://www.kvflipside.org).

No one has mentioned the too cool for words Spider-man theme song. Wouldn't it be great to hear THAT in the movie?

I hope they use the same theme song for the new Spiderman movie (if it ever comes out). That's the best!
My contribution is from the '70s also. Right before Speed Racer came on, there was Kimba the White Lion. I used to know that by heart, and sang it constantly.

I used to love The Barbapapa's! No one here believes me that this show existed - they think I'm even weirder for H.R. Puffinstuff.

My favorite Cartoony tune has to be Scooby Doo. :)

I remember the Transformers theme(s).

Transformers: The Movie's soundtrack contains Lion's own rendition of the Transformers theme, which is played as the end credits are rolling.

Zel, you're not mad, Barbapapas show exist ( was a show for kids under 8 or so LOL ). Well in france the biggest one was " les citees d'or " people still rave about it. I reckon that was miles better than most anime. Educatiionnal exploration of Precolumbian myths through the adventures of Esteban, zia and tao.And there's a giant golden plane in the shape of a bird ! Top that !Of course, i like Fraggle rocks. when i was i even sung tunes from Sentai ( fortunately, I stopped early ). and that show about that cat named Isidore if he has the same name in the US.... Mostly anime, but not like those today, 'cept for St Seyia and hokuto no ken ( ten second left to live, ya couldn' even tell he moved, fairly stoopid, but I thought it was the coolest ). Bedrock theme song ( Well, the flinstones ). so much I still can whistle the tune of....
Smthg I'd never be ablr to do wiv Pokemon !

Oh aye !

Fraggle Rock Rules! LOL. Didn't you guys give us Astro Boy too? ;)

I have a very sick story to tell you about Spiderman. A bunch of us were pulling an all nighter during our 3rd year of University and we were tired, beaned out on Java and smoking way too much. Well it started our own little session of true confessions.

One of my friends and I still love him but he lived in the sticks truly. He used to put little blood suckers on his wrists and play spider man. He'd squish the little blood suckers while singing spiderman, spiderman and blood would go flying. I was horrified and then I laughed my ass off at him :D He was an isolated child.
