1967 Junior Waite of the group Musical Youth is born on this date.

1967 Pink Floyd move from Abbey Road to Sound Technique studios in London to record "See Emily Play" and "Scarecrow."

1979 Tom Petty files for bankruptcy after MCA buys his label ABC Records. The Who documentary The Kids Are Alright debuts in New York.

1982 The London chapter of the British Musicians' Union moves to ban all synthesizers from recording studios. However, the rest of the BMU defeats the resolution.

1984 The Clash come offstage from a concert at Michigan State University to find someone has stolen the $17,000 in box office receipts. Tina Turner releases her album Private Dancer.

:eek: That stinks! I don't remember hearing about this. I think this is the same year they came to my town.:) No ticket sales money stolen though.:rolleyes:

I'm surprised that the Clash didn't start a riot once they discovered that all of their money had been stolen!!! :fight:

WHAT?!

I assume it's because synthesizers could simulate instruments so back then they thought they'd be out of a job? Beta vs VHS...
