View Full Version : The "Miami Vice" feature film is a GO!
The Loner 5-22-02, 11:18 PM I recntly picked up the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly and it has been announced that Series Creator-turned-respected Filmmaker Michael Mann is in the stages of developing a big-screen treatment of the popular 80's TV series.
With Mann behind it, I'm hoping it will be ten times better than that stupid Charlie's Angels movie.
ImSoooSure 5-23-02, 01:49 AM Wow, this will be interesting! I wonder who they will cast?!?
80sTrivia 5-23-02, 07:32 AM It's a fairly safe bet that Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas won't be cast in the leads... ;)
Iluvthe80s 5-23-02, 08:04 AM I just couldn't see anyone else as Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas though. I just hope they do find some people that are in comparison to them. I agree with The Loner, Charlie's Angels was stupid. A lot of it was the casting.
Det.RicardoTubbs 5-23-02, 01:45 PM How am I the last to know about this?:p
PMT guest starred on a couple of DJ's Nash Bridge's episodes. Their chemistry was still there along with a few extra pounds. (It was funny to hear the intro to the Miami Vice them when they first meet and a "long time no see" line).
There's no way a studio would back them in it though. But boy would I camp out for tickets! I'd probably be the only one too...
George Clooney and Will Smith as the modern day Crockett/Tubbs?
angeleyes25 5-23-02, 05:02 PM I think it's great that there coming out with a Miami Vice movie now let's just hope that they do it well.I haven't seen Charlie's Angels nor do I want too.It looks stupid.I agree That Will Smith would be good to play tubbs or maybe Chris Tucker.I can't think of anyone for Crockett right now though.
I think a movie like that sounds good. I liked the Charlie's Angels movie. Taye Diggs and Ben Affleck as Crockett and Tubbs, please.
ImSoooSure 5-24-02, 12:54 AM Taye Diggs would be a GREAT Tubbs! I can't think of anyone better Pippi. I can't think of a Crockett right now.
Det.RicardoTubbs 5-24-02, 07:20 AM Ben Affleck??? :yucky: He already "stole" Harrison Ford's role, no way I'm letting him steal my buddy Don Johnson's! ;)
Taye Diggs IS a great choice for Tubbs.
Here is another idea though...
PLEASE! Ben Affleck? The guy cant act his way out of a wet paper sack! Tye Diggs might be a good choice. Or Possible The big tall black detective off of NYPD Blue. As far as the other lead, I would go with somebody along the lines of John Cusack, or perhaps Mark Walburgh, but thats just my opinion.
I was just suggesting Ben Affleck. I could deal with Mark Wahlberg too. As long as they are good looking. The girls deserve that after the guys got Charlie's Angels.
Pippi, I hate to bring it up, but I dont really find any of the girl from Charlies ANgels that attractive.

You know what, either did I. I thought I was wierd or something.......
I'm still lobbying for George Clooney or an "older" or scruffy actor to play Crockett. Old as in lates 30s/40.
Matthew McCounaghey could be stretch also. <ducks>
Nah, you boys aren't weird...I didn't find them overly attractive either......

I am resting my case here. You guys are impossible.
I will be in the corner pouting if any of you needs me.
And I'll wager that you look really sexy when you pout.... :naughty:
Det.RicardoTubbs 5-29-02, 03:59 PM Sexier, at least, than those cheesy Angels or Ben Affleck.... :p
Oh, without doubt Tubbsman! :)
Charlie's who? Tell me more, guys.
Back on topic. How about Russell Crowe, Bruce Willis or Brendan Fraser as Crockett?
Russell Crowe and Taye Diggs. Yeah baby, yeah baby, yeah!
Some good suggestions there Pippi that I actually would go along with. The only exception being Bruce Willis, I think he's a bit too stiff-arsed.
Det.RicardoTubbs 5-29-02, 04:15 PM Russel Crowe / Taye Diggs ? I could see it. :thumb:
What about Eriq LaSalle from ER as an alternate Tubbs though?
One of Bruce Willis' early roles was as a bad guy on MV way back in 84, funny you mention him. Maybe if he grew some hair....
No one has commented on G.Clooney or
Matthew McCaunehoweva you spell it..... is that good or bad?
I think George Clooney would be excellent for any part! He is one man I could watch for hours.. and hours.. :licky:
I agree with Stacy, I don't or can't see anyone else in those roles, but then again, I thought that of "Charlie's Angels" and was pleasantly surprised! :) However, I am not a huge fan of "Miami Vice", I just watched for the musical guest actors and performers.

Well, you can do you part and "sign" the official petition to include the original cast in the movie....
