Has anyone else heard that Ted Nugent & Ozzy have been taking pot-shots at one another? Here's the story:

from Salon.com
By Amy Reiter

"A feud has broken out between Ted Nugent and Ozzy Osbourne. Nugent apparently started the scuffle by telling the New York Post that "The Osbournes" is "an indictment to the soulessness of modern man" in that "we get a kick out of witnessing a magnificent creature reduced to a blithering hopeless idiot." And while Ozzy himself tried to stake out higher ground, telling the press that he respects Nugent "very dearly as a musician," his wife, Sharon, said she'd rather like to castrate Nugent the next time she sees him. Undaunted, Nugent shot back to Reuters, "The reason [Ozzy's] so successful is everyone wants to see a train wreck -- but no one wants to be in one." Though some people clearly wouldn't mind piggybacking on the train wreck's lucrative flair for controversy."

TED NUGENT Clarifies "THE OSBOURNES" Criticism

Ted Nugent has attempted to clarify his previously-published comments about The Osbournes show, which drew the ire of Ozzy and Sharon at last week's press conference in New York. As previously reported, Nugent had told the New York Post, "I think it's an indictment to the soullessness of modern man that we get a kick out of witnessing a magnificent creature reduced to a blithering hopeless idiot."

However, Nugent now says the paper didn't print his complete statement.

"My first comment was that, isn't it fantastic and thank God. I think it saved Ozzy's life that he met and eventually married Sharon—I hope he finally realizes he is married to Sharon—because she really has managed what is left of Ozzy into a wonderful, wonderful, increased quality of life," Nugent told Launch. "I'm confident that they're sharing it with the best of their ability with their children.

"However, what is displayed on the Osbournes TV show is what I said it was," Nugent added. "Its success could be an indictment to the soullessness of my fellow Americans who don't just watch it because it's funny, because it's not funny when you see people that have a scattered shambles of a life like that. And they can criticize me and make fun of me for killing Bambi and all that other vacuous transparencies. But I wish nothing but the best for the Osbournes.

"I would like to speak to Ozzy personally about it because I mean no ill will. What I mean is strictly a good will and offer any advice that even a feeble guitar player may be able to offer, but it's all I have. So I would like to offer what I have and that is that he should really, really make every effort to steer his children away from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and fast food, all of which seem to be entering their lives and I think they're going to pay the price for it."

Well, I am going to probably get criticized for this but I agree with Ted. The show is hilarious but it is also sad to see what Ozzy has become. It goes to show what alcohol and drug abuse can do to you. I am pretty open minded but i do find their excessive use of profanity too much as well. I also have a problem with the kids talking that way to their parents. I was raised better than that.

In addition, I must confess that I am upset about something else. While I like the show, isn't it somewhat of a sellout? MTV has ignored most veteran rock bands and now Ozzy embraces MTV. He has been on TRL, etc. While I dislike Aerosmith personally, I hear people complaining about how they are now perfoming with N'Sync, etc. I also have heard people gripe that my favoirte performer Alice Cooper is seen too much playing in celebrity golf tournaments, doing CompUSA commercials, etc. Not to mention all the complaints against KISS for being cashcows. (I am not a big KISS fan but not for that reason) What is the difference?

While I am griping, I might as well finish my thought. The last two Ozzy albums have been terrible in my opinion. I wish that he would refocus on putting out great music once again. Just my two cents. Thanks for reading.

I know this thread was dead but I have to add my 2 cents worth on it.

I saw a few interviews with Mr. Nugent and I personally have to agree with him. It's a shame that the world today idolizes the Ozzy's disfunctional family. I personally don't allow my children to watch it.

Mr. Nugents family or Mr. Osbournes family? Mr. Nugents HANDS DOWN!!

I don't know; the guys probably gettin' paid a ton of money for doing little more than stumbling around half-conscious in his bath robe. He's probably laughing harder than anybody.

I think it's Sharon who's doing the laughing. With the merchandising blitz and the touring much more than looks good for him in his current state, I think she's trying to squeeze out every last dollar he can make before he keels over. That is what I find sad, where does it cross over into exploitation?

I know Nugent through TNUSA and have heard his comments directly. Ted is all about freedom , family, and of course hunting. He isn't into drugs and he isn't into the Osbournes. He simply does not agree with the Oz's philosophy of life. I think the tabloids took it a bit out of context. Ted is a great guy and Ozzy is and always will be The Oz man :)
