View Full Version : Identity Chips: Would You Get One?

On the radio this morning the topic of discussion was these new chips that can be inserted under the skin (preferably on the top of your hand). The chip is the size of a grain of rice. It can hold information about you such as medical records. It can also help in tracking missing persons, etc. One Florida family has already done this (the man was willing to try it since he has multiple health problems).

The question is, would you do this if you had the opportunity to?
Do you think that this is a bad idea? Will it lead to trouble down the line or will it help people? Feel free to discuss.

No, I wouldn't get the chip put in, at least not right-away. I'd want to see how good personal security would be with the chip first. If there's a will, there's a way for hackers and thugs to get personal information that serves their own needs.

I voted other because I'm really not sure. I can see advantages and disadvantages. I don't know very much about these yet either. It seems kinda weird to have that done but you just never know!

Well this one could get into a real religious debate, so I'm gonna avoid talking about that side of it.

I personally wouldn't. And I would also be concerned about what negative affects it might have health wise.

I've had identity chips placed in the ears of both of my cats, just in case they ever run away or are lost, they can be identified and returned to me. As far as getting a chip implanted in me... I'm not sure. It all sounds rather Orwellian to me and a little eerie...

I don't think so...it just sounds too weird to me. I'd have to wait a few years (find out if there are any side effects, etc.) and then think about it. But for now, no.

NO! Never and I mean NEVER. They could make it law and I still would not do it.

No, It just doesn't sound quite right, not yet. Christine kind of summed up my feelings.

Nope. Didn't need them before and don't need them now. After thousands of years of living on this planet, humans were able to go about their affairs without the need of corporations...

Also, what if your kid gets kidnapped and the idiots decide to try to take the chips out?

I am too paranoid to have one of those things inside me. I voted No. There is a little too much big brother mentality over it for my taste.

There is no way that I would get one of those Identity Chips put in me.

I went with other. Really depends on how well it works and just how they plan to use it. Would be good to have if you had numerous health problems. That way they would know if you were taken to the er unconscious. Has advantages and disadvatages. Just have to wait and see about this one.

I'll take any implant they can offer me. I wanna become a cyborg, so that I can walk around saying "I'll be back" to everyone.

I voted NO! I'm a human being and not a machine. I would hate to be part of a diabolical plan if the system fell into the wrong hands! Who would be abel to manipulate me? No thanks!

Nope, I know who I am and where I am from, no need for a chip!

No, I don't think I'd get/need/want an identity chip. So, like the majority of my fellow Xchangers, I voted no.

No. That isn't natural and if the world comes to this, than it is derranged......I understand doing it for our pets, however, humans???????????? That's sick........That would make the world we live in over controlling. I think of it this way, if I had one of those and was still with my abusive ex-husband, I would have never been able to get away from him in peace. Also, he was already so controlling of everywhere I went, with a chip, I would have never had the space I needed to go anywhere.

Hell No !!!!!!!!! No-one needs to know what I'm doing, or where I am, but me !!!!!! I don't like anyone knowing my business, unless I tell them. It's just another way for Big Brother to keep tabs on our activities

*As Joe Pesci would say - Do I look like a friggin' prisoner to ya?!?!? Huh??? Huh???? -* :mwaha:

So my answer is NO. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif

Do I think it's a bad idea? Not really. Just not something I would consider for myself. However, it could prove useful for early alzheimers' patients who could potentially get lost. In THOSE cases it would definitely help.

I'll pass on the ID chip. Reminds me too much of the movie "Demoliton Man" & if the world ever turns out like that, I don't wanna be there when it does.

These identity chips sound waaay too much like Big Brother to me. Thanks, but I don't need someone watching and knowing every little thing I do. As for sex offenders or other serious criminals, I think this would be a fabulous idea, though.
