Hello 80's fans! My name is Jolene. I'm 22 yrs old. The 80's are like my life! I grew up on alot of bubble-gum pop. It was first Tiffany and Debbie Gibson both of who I support and see all the time to this day. I was a child during that decade but it stuck with me and it's all I really do like. Recently I watched the old 80's thriller "Twisted" starring Christian Slater, and "Cutting Class" with Brad Pitt. I rent 80's flicks all the time and collect them as well.
My fave 80's horror is "The Lost Boys". Well I like any movie the Coreys have done.
Fave comedy would be "Once Bitten" with Jim Carrey. You know despite all of his success now, that is my fave movies of his! I also really like John Cusack.
My 80's collection is going well. I have about 20 tapes from Def Leppard to Pebbles. Well I could blabble on and on but I will chat more about it laters.

HI! I'm so happy about all of the replies here. I guess I have come to the right place. So has anybody here in Houston been listening to the all 80's station 106.9 The Point? It's my fave, although I wish they would play a little more pop and old school 80's like Run DMC or Expose. They do play all the big hits.
Tonight I'm off work and I will be renting some 80's movies. I would recommend "The Lost Boys" if you hadn't seen that one! It's a vampire movie. I really loved those horror 80's movies for some reason. "Nightmare on Elm Street", Friday the 13th", Watchers. "Silver Bullet"... I'm really weird cuz I rent all of the low budget movies like "Sleep Away Camp" or "Basket Case".

Sleepaway camp! Haha I rented that one way back when. In like 1988 or something. Blood Cult.. Ever hear of that one? hehe "Almighty Canineus"... You hadda be there.. Anyways, I liked all the Jason movies and the Halloweens (except for 3, duh). Freddy, etc.. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif Yes, you've come to the right place. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif Maybe one day when we've got thousands and thousands of daily participants here (ok, I'm dreaming!) the movie theaters will realize how many we are and start releasing old stuff to the screens more often! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

ABBACER, yes I listen to 106.9 The Point. It isn't bad, but they need to play more of a variety. I STILL have not heard a damn song by Chicago. How can they not play Chicago! They haven't even played the king of pop MJ.

I'm hoping now that they have DJ's it will get better. I think I need to get a job there and pick their music.

ABBACER..
The Lost Boys is definatly one of my favorite movies as well!! I think I can recite like every word in the movie... thats pretty funny... and Basket Case!! I can't believe someone else has seen that movie besides me!! It was supposed to be scary, but it was hilarious! I must have been about 12 or 13 when I saw that...

It's nice to see kids that grew up in the late 80's that still appreciate it..
I got to enjoy the 80's about 5 years more than you did (I'll be 28 next month),
You're pretty cool... It's nice to meet you!

Later!! Tina http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//spin.gif

Hey! Yes it would be cool to have all of the 80's movies released again into the theaters. Alot of younger people would be suprised by how many movies they fall in love with. 106.9 The Point is coming into it's own. You know when it becomes more popular and interactive with the public etc.. they may have to play more of a variety. They have a number to call them and give your requests so maybe that will help. I'd like them to play Debbie Gibson or Tiffany. I would also like to hear more 80's big hair bands like Poison, Motley Crue etc...
You know I had an idea once to start my own radio station or club dedicated to the 80's. I would have a night with all of the dance, then another night for pop etc..and so on just to make everyone happy. You know I noticed that the 90's is the only decade that doesn't have anything special about it to remember. You have the 70's disco, and it's whole look and attitude, then The Big 80's, the hair etc.. Know what I mean??

How's that station doing now? Is it still 80s?
I wish we had an all 80s station here in Columbus. We used too back in the late 90s. Unfortunately now, stations are lumping the 80s, 90s and current music together. It kinda sucks, but that seems to be the trend.
