Where were you, (Or what were you doing), the day that you stumbled across this wonderful, magical home of 80s?


I had been on another 80s site, and was friends with 80sTrivia...I saw in his profile that he had a link to his website, went there, and saw that he was also a member HERE!!!

Well, I came over here, saw that he was online, and he started stalking me right away!!


That day was like any other day.....Aron had gone out with his friend, Dan, and I was alone until he came home. (This was before Pagan!!:naughty: It was summer, it was warm in my bedroom, (where the computer was), and I was having a blast!! I was hooked from that first night!!!

I think I was doing a lyric search on altavista and I ended up just finding it. Then a few weeks after, of browsing, I joined. I actually joined the same day I met the most Precious person in the world (my g/f :D) so this place kinda has a special meaning to me. :p

I was on another board when he contacted me and told me to take a look at the xchange. I have moved over with flying flags, since this board didn't messed up my log in four times...;)

Besides, I found a great community - what else can I say? :thumb:

I remember your first day here vividly, Gretchen!!! I think you made about five hundred posts right off the bat!!!

I had discovered the Xchange earlier while still doing research on my 80s trivia books but had not become a member, even though I had the site bookmarked. I received a very nice e mail from Sal who asked about my book, which had just been published. He invited me to come to the Xchange and to join, which I did within minutes of reading his e mail. I posted a greeting immediately and received a warm welcome and I've been back ever since!!! :thumb:

I had only had my computer for about 2 weeks when I did a search on Lycos for 80's related websites. I found the xchange and decided to sign up. After visiting it daily, I became addicted to this place and have been posting ever since. On May 2, it will make my one year anniversary of being a member of this site. :)

I'm not sure how I found ya'll exactly...think I was just searching for new 80's things on the engines. I had been going to one but it was pretty boring since he didn't update it very much.

God.......am I glad I did find the xchange! I'm still trying to go through all the pages!! I really enjoy it and the people.

I was searching for 80's music sites. I still have never found any that suit what I wanted, hmmmm...maybe I should start one, I just don't have the knowhow, anyway, I was brought to the xchange and have been happy since :)

I was on the Backtraxusa message board. Someone, Sal?, was talking about the 80sxchange. Sounded like a great place! The B.T. board was dead!! Here I am and have loved it ever since.

I had been signing guestbooks about my site for a few months (haven't signed any in a long time), and one day I got an email from Sal asking to check it out. Apparently he had sent a few that never arrived. This was back in August.

I came by and registered. Didn't stay much for several months until earlier this year. Been here ever since.

Sal told me he got my email address from a guestbook somewhere.

I think I did a search on yahoo :confused: for 80's metal sites and this site was one of the search results. I checked it out and found some really cool people talking about almost anything and......well the rest is history. How this place has grown since then. Keep up the good work Sal! :thumb:

It was late in school one day, and I was killing time, doing a search on the 80s online. I came across it, looked at for 15 minutes, then joined. :lol:

I had just got into the world of downloading mp3s and was checking out some music sites on 80s music to jog my memory on some songs I hadn't heard in years and stumbled across the old 80sxchange website. I nearly didn't join, but thought, what the hell! followed the link to the new site and joined up. What a great decision!

Well, my story is somewhat similar to Recker's. I was surfing the net to find out about 80's songs as well so I could have a complete list when I made my own 80's compilation cd's, and there was the link to the xchange, I too, almost didn't click, but I am glad I did. It's been an enjoyable source of entertainment for me and I've made some of the best friends here. In fact, Recker and I joined the same day! :thumb:

I was surfing the backtrxusa site, browsing through the various forums at that site when I stumbled upon someone who had visited 80sxchange site and I either copied the webaddress or there was a link already provided (nothing was happening at backtraxusa).

I decided to check it out. Voila! I originally came to check out the "Where Can I Find This Song" forum for a song I was potentially looking for. In the process I saw the 80's Video Games forum. I thought to myself "I like this already-music, video games...it doesn't get better than this."

That was November of last year and I've been happy here ever since, discovering a plethora of 80's songs, info, etc. plus a great group of people to chat with:thumb:

I was sittin in a computer lab at college...got bored doing work, so I decided to check my mail and saw an invitation to check out 80sXchange. As most mail, I just paid it no mind til later and went to check my guestbook at my site....there again was that name....Sal Collaziano complimenting my site and inviting me to post a link to my site at 80sXchange.

I was actually looking for a good message board to get into at the time besides the mythology forums I once frequented, so I said what the hey, popped in, plugged my site and said hello...was immediately greeted by Zel & Sal, checked out the forums a little more and immediately infused myself into the place as if I'd always been there :)

A couple months later I'm a mod, 9 months after that I'm admin and sometime between then and now, I'm co-runner of the site.....who woulda thought :)

Vilji and I had been reunited after about 14 or 15 years. She found me on classmates. She told me she has fun on this site and it would be a good way for us to catch up. It's the only site I have ever posted messages on or become a part of. What a blast I'm having! :D

Did a search on Google on 80s music. Found 80s Pop, did a hitlist there and decided to check out the msgboard, joined and within a week I pulled my first allnighter in DC....That was hilarious, I remember Pagan, Val, Milani and TC being there. When the time passed 5am (my time) I was soooo speeded on coffee, sugar and lack of sleep I cracked up at anything said in there :lol:

The first few weeks here, I thought the xchange was part of 80s Pop untill Roem set me straight (wasn't the first time....and I think not the last either :D ).

12 months after I joined I was crowned posting king, 12½ months after I was Master of the Universe ;) :D

I remember that day very well. Viliji and I went out to lunch at Wendy's and she talked about how nice everyone was on the xchange. I couldn't believe there was such a place. I was use to posting in the yahoo chat and the people there were always very rude and the guys were just horny.
So later on the day I she signed me up. I checked it out and at first I was confused as heck. It took me awhile to get the hang of it.
Since then I can't stop posting.

My husband had a cassette tape of songs he had taped off the radio in 1982 and there were two songs on it we could not identify. One night we decided to try surfing the web to try to figure out what they were, and doing a search of 80s music sites we stumbled across the 80sxchange, and decided to try out the "Where Can I Find this Song" section. One song was immediately identified, but the other one took about 7 months after I'd added a more complete description (thanks TJ ;) ). Anyhow, I liked that section and kept coming back off and on to see if I could help identify anyone else's songs. Slowly I began exploring the other parts of the board and just fell in love with the place.

Ok, back to topic (maybe :lol: )....where were ya when ya found this place....TAKE 2!!

I made the mistake of posting on the "That 80s Show" messageboards in January (shortly before the premiere of the series). That was short-lived once I saw the types of people who were posting over there. However, shortlly thereafter, Sal shot me an email inviting me over here, where I have happily remained. :D

I was surfing the net, back in the 90's, one day I was looking for various 80's sites. I found on that charged money to browse,(I said "Forget That!!) Clicked on the next link, for this little site called the 80'sXchange. (Yes, it was kind of little back then!)
Sal made me feel welcome, as he does with all his members, and I stayed for quite awhile.
Anyway, here I am 3 years(off and on) and various upgrades later, happy to be here, when time permits. I love everything about it here, good people and good conversations!

I was playing around last May 23rd trying to find some nostalgic 80's info and ran across this site, signed up, managed to mispell my user name and began posting in the wrong forums as I didin't know what I was doing

8teesBuff and I were talking about the 80's at work one day. She said she had a list of some 80's sites she would e-mail me. 80's xchange was one of the last ones on that list. I almost didn't check it out! :eek:

I was out wandering around my domain and one of the users was browsing the site. I had a chat with her about it, told her to get on with her work and promptly went back to my desk, went to the site and joined. Simple as that.

I was chatting with a good friend on Yahoo! Messenger, who told me about the site.

Wow, I don't really remember the specific day. It was in January and I think I did a search for 80's on the internet. Then I found the Xchange and I've been hooked ever since. I am addicted...I can't stay away. :groovy: :D I'm SO glad I found this site - I love it here.

I emailed Flix a few months ago and told him how bored I was and how I needed some entertainment. He sent me a couple of cds and one of them was all 80s songs. So we talked about this place and I lurked around here for a few months. It is a great place and I really like posting here. I never thought I would meet so many nice people in one place.

I was searching for info on some obscure band when I found the 80sxchange. I liked it from day one, but lost contact when work got crazy. I returned almost a year later and the place sucked me back in again.

I stumbled onto the 80sxchange by accident while I was Google-searching for some 80s music information. When I saw what a wealth of 80s memories there was here, I lurked around for a couple of weeks and then eventually joined.

If only I had more "accidents" like these.... :D

I was looking for a chart listing of 80's music to make up compilation CD's off Napster (Remember that?) when I stumbled upon this site. And I've been back ever since!!! This place has rekindled my love of all 80's music and (to the guys who play XFFL) my love of Gridiron!!!!!

I was looking at billyidol.com, which had a link to an 80's sight that had a feature on Billy. I don't remember the name of that site, but it had a link to here! I had a look around ( I had NO idea what a message board was!), and saw there was a chat room here. I was interested to see what was going on, so I logged in to find.....NOTHING! no one there!!! So I came back later that night to find a very interesting assortment of people there! I remember Recker was there, and Foxxy and Therrall, and a rather intriguing young lady from Canada...

Anyway, I was just blown away by how welcoming and accepting everybody was, and how much fun they were all having. I was chatting for about a month before I even really looked at the rest of the site! Once it was explained to me what message boards were all about I joined!

I remember Pagan telling me about this site were he got his ego stroked every so often, LOL :lol: , so I had to check it out... :p

It was right around the time he was trying to get me an audition for Livesay... and I've been around, on and off, ever since ;)

I'm not new, but I missed this last spring ;)

My friend Aurora (80scartoons.net (http://www.80scartoons.net)) had posted on the old ezboard site, and told me I would get a kick out of it. She was right! I didn't join until after the move to this system - April 2001. 2 years :lol: Is that all??

Wow, I missed this last Spring too. I really forget how I came upon this website. I was a regular poster to the 1980s Newsgroup for years, and still lurk there, and post too. I have been to many 80s sites in my day since about 1996, but this was the only one with a decent message board. I probably found this website through the 80s Newsgroup at some point.

I used to post on another messageboard with my sweetie, "XXX" until one day when he told me he had been a member here for the past year as well. I came here, checked it out & wa-la! I LOVE it here so much that I haven't been back to that "other messageboard" since! The people here are WAY cooler & have a much better knowledge of music. Plus, everyone seems to be around my age :D

I was also a member at the same aforementioned board by Poisongirl but have found myself coming here more and more...this is a GREAT site! :)

Well...I posted on the now-defunct site, Yesterdayland, ands one member of this site, purrsyn9, told me to check this site out.

I joined this site in February '02, when an influx of other YL'ers were joining.

I left for a long while, as did some of the other YL'ers, but just recently, I decided to come back to see what was going on, and I'm pleased that this site is still as friendly as it was a year and a half ago!

i was proving to my teeny daughter that the current decade is a pale imitation of the 80s and i followed a great link. she wont speak to me now

I had been a lurker here for a couple of months before I officially joined. I can't recall how I discovered this site, but I would lurk in and out every so often and post almost exclusively in the New Wave forum; not really venturing outside of that. Then I left for months and forgot about this place until it came time for us to find a better, more suitable site where we could read and post about the music we liked. It dawned on me to tell my babydoll, Princessof... er I mean PoisonGirl :D about this place and it was her participation here which led me to come back here more often :)

My experience with the exchange through this ENTIRE time (haha) has been wonderful.

I was introduced to the 80's exchange by none other than the graceful and beautiful ValleyGirl. (and did I mention how SEXY she is?????)

ValleyGirl and I met coincidentally on an on-line game. :gamer: . and it was my "SCREEN-NAME" and my sense of humor that attracted her. I cannot at this time tell you what attracted me to her. (that is another story in its self)WHAT A WONDERFUL day that was. btw, if you are interested about what my screen name is on the game.... you are going to have to ask her about it... hahahaa

She invited me to check out the exchange... and I have been hooked ever since.

I found this site through the newsgroup alt.culture.us.1980s when someone posted a link to it. I was already on the other 80s board, but I wanted to find another group to join. I looked around and I've been here ever since. :)

I was "room hoppin" in PalTalk when I came across the xchange room in the music category. I met those who were there "Tinajo, Junior, BlueMolly, Valleygirl etc." I had a blast and enlisted that very same night here at the Website..never looked back!

How did everyone find the 80's Exchange? How long has it been around?


I was told by a dear friend who joined a few years back.( I have to get his butt back on here)

I think someone mentioned it at another board and I did a google search. I checked the posts every so often, but found the multiple functions back then too confusing. I did join months later, participated here and there, but it was my introduction of another member here that made me stick around and participate more :)

How I found this is somewhere earlier in this thread :lol: As for the how long has the site been here question.... since November 19, 1999 :) Started on EZBoard.... moved up to UBB... and finally here with vB.

Always good to see this thread bumped up... interesting to see how everyone stumbled in here together :lol:

I don't remember *what* I was searching Google for, but that's how I found this site.

I'm really not sure how I missed this before... Anyway, I was doing some research on the net while at work :rolleyes: (if you believe that, call me! I have some land to sell you) and just stumbled across the site. Read through some posts and was impressed by the friendliness of everyone here, so I joined up. Sheesh, that was like three years ago now.

I was actually looking up some sites for you guessed it, Def Leppard and I found a link that brought me here. I've been here for almost 3 monthes now and I absolutely love it !!!!! I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. I just wish I had found it sooner !!!!!! :)

I was actually looking for some info on a Canadian artist (I can't even remember which one) and I stumbled into C80s' Canadian one hit wonders of the 80's thread. But I didn't consider myself a member yet. I left the xchagne because I couldn't get in so I gave up. Good thing I tried again a month later eh? lol

I was checking out some other 80's site, (the posts there were like, "How come no one posts here?") and got an e-mail from Sal to check out the x-change. I loved it. Kind of lost touch, have always stopped in to see whats up, though. Things have changed lots here, and there are so many people I dont know. I dont know how I could catch up.

I was online doing a search for something. What it was, I don't recall and somehow I saw a link to the xchange and checked it out... It looked cool so I joined :)

I was doing a yahoo search for 80's dance music for a small dance I was coreographing for my former girl/youth group) and that is how I found the 80s XChange.

I also did a google search for 6400 for some cd's I had gotten for my b/d. This site popped up and the rest is history...been here since then.

Well, I was looking fir a site about 80's Funk and Rap. Most of my post come from there. Anyway I found this place and said to myself this place looks kool so I became a meber and I am very happy here. :)

just noticed this, it was 4 years ago today i found the place, and it became a daily ritual of checking this place out every morning when i get up, looking a few times at work, and again taking a look most evenings

I'm a member of the Scissor Sisters board, for about a week there was this big 80's vibe going through the other bands and music section, I decided to do a random search for 80's boards..and here I am!! :thumb:

Initially it started out as me doing some research for my Northwest Metal Site on Big Metal bands of the 80's. I couldn't believe how many hits came up from 80sxchange so I thought to myself "I should at least see what it's all about". I thought it would be another "fluke" site! Man am I glad I was wrong on that assumption! I checked out a few threads as a "Guest" and joined up. Been a daily ritual and addiction ever since.

I was on another 80s board, and some one added the web address for this site so I followed the white rabbit (link), and found myself here. I have enjoyed every minute of this place since. :thumb:

I found it per chance actually and am very glad I did as the 80's just rock!!
