These singers have always blown me away with a combination of good singing and great songs. Which of these is your overall favorite? My vote goes to Pat Benetar, as she delivers a lot of energy into both her singing and music.

What, no Madonna?!? Madonna would get my vote above anyone else on this list, no doubt about it! :)

But for the list you provided, I'd have to go with Stevie Nicks, she's a great singer and songwriter and sings from the heart about personal matters, and she rocks in concert! :thumb: I've had the opportunity to see her live three times! :)

I would've voted for Pat Benatar except I've been reading more and more that she doesn't like the 80s, despite doing things like "That 80s Show". She says she's glad the decade is over...please, Sarg, could you perhaps explain what she means by that? Is she glad it's over because of the fashions and hair? Is she glad it's over because of possible problems with drugs or alcohol?

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

Had to go with Pat Benatar. Joan Jett is a close second but for me, Pat has the greater number of songs that I just can't resist beating on the steering wheel to (my "drum set" I like to call it).

I went with Pat Benatar!!!!

I loved all of her radio songs, but there was one song, (Sarg can tell me the exact album), from one of the earlier records, called "Hell is for Children". For some reason, at the time, I didn't "get" the message....just really liked the chorus. Mom said we could sing it because it was the title of the song.

Now, I heard it again, and it's a really upsetting song. Man, what age can do to you!

i voted for Olivia, but I love Pat Benatars voice, too.

BUSTED!

DD86, "Hell Is For Children" is from Pat's CRIMES OF PASSION album.
Pat Benatar, Neil Giraldo and Roger Capps wrote this song about child abuse after reading a newspaper article on the subject. The title for the song was the headline for that article.

I went with Stevie just because of "Landslide". But my all-time favorite female singer is Karen Carpenter. :yesnod: Absolutely the most perfect and sweetest singing voice I've heard to date. It's a shame she had to leave the way she did. :bigangel:

SARAH BRIGHTMAN

(Remember, she sang in Phantom Of The Opera in 1986-The Original London Cast). I absolutely love Sarah's music, being that I'm a Ballet Dancer and much of her music is fitting for my major dance forte'.

My next choice (couldn't choose just one) for best Female Singer of the 80's definately must go to

MADONNA

Where is Karen Carpenter in the list...???...Even though I only like a few songs of them her voice the best that I ever heard,it makes me happy and sad,or maybe melancholic is a better word,at the same time...

When I was young
I'd listen to the radio
Waitin' for my favorite songs
When they played I'd sing along
It made me smile...

or

We’ve only just begun to live
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we’re on our way
We’ve only just begun...
