There has always been debates on who is the official "Greatest Rock Band Of All Time". Some say The Beatles, some The Stones, etc. My local classic rock station always says when referring to The Rolling Stones "The greatest rock band of all time". I want to see who you guys would pick as the greatest rock band of all time.

My choice is The Rolling Stones. I grew up listening to their music because my Mom really likes them. They are celebrating 40 years together this year and that is amazing. They still put out cool albums with catchy songs. I do not feel there will ever be another band like them.

Zeppelin, of course. ;) I am still wondering where my poster is???:mad: :p

The Beatles. They defined the music of the Twentieth Century, plain and simple... :)

If Judas Priest is considered rock then I'd go with them but, if not then absolutely the Stones! :) Or Led Zeppelin. :p

I had to vote for Aerosmith. I can't tell you their dates of birth or even who all the members names are :) but I really enjoy their music.

I also wanted to vote "Other" for KISS .....showing my age again :lol: but I've been a fan of theirs since the 70's.

I said the Beatles. The Stones had songs I liked better, but the Beatles were like THE british invasion and I must give credit to them.

Greatest of all time is a pretty hefty title, but weighing the choices, I'd have to go with the Stones on this one...Beatles were a very close second...

I really like Led Zepplin but I voted for The Beatles. I like the message of peace that they put out there with their music. That's different from most bands. They have music anyone can enjoy.

The Beatles

It was a toss up between the Beatles, Stones and Zep....but in the end it's Zeppelin. They were like Gods.

On this list, the bad boys of the British Invasion. The Beatles started it but the Stones perfected it!!

I voted for Aerosmith! :thumb: They are a band that has endured highs and lows and have come back strong and have maintained that high! A great group with some of the most memorable songs in history! :)

All great bands. But I had to go with Led Zeppelin.

You listed a lot of amazing, classic bands that helped define rock 'n roll, Stacy. In the end, I had to go with Aerosmith though. :D :thumb: They completely deserved the honor of being MTV Icons. :)

The Beatles. So many great songs. They evolved so much in so little time. If you think about it. They were all in there late teens and 20s when there were a band. Such great songs for a bunch of youngsters. So experimental.

My vote has to go for the Beatles. Too me, they changed everything. Without the Beatles you would have no Stones, Floyd, Kinks or Zeppelin!! They gave America a big kick in the you know what. Before them it was all doowop and clean cut Beach Boys music.
John, Paul, and George are three of the best song writers of all time. The songs they put together will live on forever.

I voted for Aerosmith they have more songs I like by them than all the other bands put together and I agree with Lostinthe80s Angel is one of there best songs along with Walk This Way and Dude Looks Like A Lady..

The Beatles were the band I voted for.....Why? Their music has been heard around the world for nearly five decades now. No matter what the age of a person is, they know who the Beatles are. The Beatles were known for their own style of rock & roll music and their mop tops as they were many times referred to in the 60's.

If I had to go with my favorite it would be Led Zep, but to look at everything especially longivity I had to vote for the Rolling Stones. They produced hits in the 60's, 70. 80, and 90's and no one has done that

Over the short term I'd say the Beatles, but when you figure in how long(and well) the Rolling Stones have been doing it you gotta go with them.

I would have to vote for other because I would have to go with Ozzy Osbourne. I like the stuff he did with Black Sabbath and the stuff that he did on his own.

I voted 'Other'. I wouldn't want to put any group down, as all of these are great choices, but I think we've probably not seen the greatest yet. If I had to choose right now, I'd have to say Bon Jovi. Not because they're better than these groups, but because they are still together, have lasted through a few decades, and are still putting out hits.

Now, you may say the Stones have, too, and you'd be right. But I'm not a Stones fan. :( Now, I am a Def Leppard fan, and notice I didn't say them, either. :p :lol:

Another "other" for me (Gawd, am I hard to please or what?). From personal taste and amount of influence on my life, I'd have to say Rush. Not one of the biggest-selling bands of all time, but way up there on the musical genious scale.
If beaten silly and forced to chose from the list under threat of being made to watch boy band videos, I'd chose Led Zep.

I'm surpised that you didn't list The Who, because they were great too.

KISS all the way! Even though The Beatles have made more of an impression on generations of musicians. I like KISS's music better though.

the Beatles (such as they were the first to make the 'Concept' Album.
The first to include lyrics along with an album. The first to cross eastern
musical influences with western music--without them,lol--long hair would not have been re-introduced into american culture as soon as then) one might
impress upon that whether like them or not, they have to be honored 'The
greatest Band in Rock n' Roll History to date. Let's just figure out if the entire
Beatles catalogue (Group efforts and solo careers) are worth more than the
other great bands that subsequently emerged on the rock and roll scene.
Besides,we can always give the distinction of 'The Oldest Band of all Times'
award to the Rolling Stones. :D

"The greatest rock and roll band of all time" is a nickname given to the Stones. Just like The Beatles are "The fab four" or Frank Sinatra is "The chairman of the board" or "Ole blue eyes" and Elvis is "The king of rock". That's all.

The Beatles. Not that they're my favorite band but they were certainly the most influential, not only to music but also to the entire 60's generation. No band before or after them has ever had an impact on music or society like they did.

My second choice would be Rush 'cause they kick ass.

Beatles hands down! But The choices were tough, a lot of bands on the list could easily have gotten the title. But my first exposure to Rock N Roll was the beatles, and that is why they got my vote.
