I voted for "Finer Things". This is one of those happy, feel-good songs of the 80s and I always feel great when I hear it on the radio!!! :)

Yes indeed, I like that one too, but it wasn't too succesful on the charts (#48 in 1981). I chose to include only his top 40 hits.

Steve Winwood had a great singing voice. Did he ever belong to a well known band?

I believe he used to be in a band called Traffic back in the late 60's maybe early 70's

My vote went to the song "Valerie"; such a highly energetic song.

Steve Winwood was also in the Spencer Davis Group with his older brother in the 60's before joining Traffic.

My favorite song would be "Don't You Know What The Night Can Do".

While You See A Chance is my favorite.
Steve Winwood was only 15 when he started with the Spencer Davis Group. After Traffic he was also in a group called Blind Faith with Eric Clapton before he went solo.

I wasn't a big Steve Windwood fan, but I chose Don't You Know What The Night Can Do. Reminds me of being out and about in NYC on a warm summer night....:)

Hard choice - I went with "Valerie" in the end, though it could also have been "While You See a Chance", "Higher Love", "Freedom Overspill", "Back in the High Life Again", or indeed his 1997 single "Spy in the House of Love"

I guess I'm the only one who didn't really find him all that exciting? I'd have to say "Valerie" for the obvious reason - it's my name. ;) I know a few of his other songs, but I think it's just his voice I could live without. The songs themselves aren't too bad. ;)

I don't know why Back in the high life was not in the charts or what has happened but this is a huge one. :thumb:

I love Valerie. Still one of the best, if not the best song of 1982 (Canadian chart based, of course. wasn't a u.s. top 40 hit 'til 1987)

Higher Love

"I could light the night up with my soul on fire,
I could make the sun shine from pure desire"

Felt that way many a time back in high school. :)
